Several months have passed since Death performed his last sacrifice for the now separated couple...~Jaide's P.O.V~
I woke up to the sound of my alarm, blasting some EDM music that's way too damn loud to be hearing this early.
I grabbed my phone and mashed the button more times than necessary to shut it up.
It's Monday... and my first day as a Senior in school no less...
I took a deep sigh, and got up from my bed, my eyes being defiant in staying open...
"Jaide! It's 7:14! You're bus is coming in half an hour!" I heard my mom yell from the kitchen downstairs.
Dammit... Overslept too...
I quickly took a shower and threw on some unimpressive clothes. Not the best look for a first day but who am I to care?
I paced to the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar, making my way out the door.
I heard my mom scoff behind me. "Jaide! And all of this breakfast I prepared???"
I turned to her and shrugged. "Bus is gonna be here any minute, you can eat it for lunch later if you want." I offered, giving her a dismissive wave.
"Alright, have a good first day alright?"
"You got it." I told her.
I opened the door and headed outside to see Cyrine out on the porch.
"Morning," I said, watching her turn to greet me a smile.
"Gonna be a good one, our first day as Seniors. Gotta say I'm kinda psyched."
"Yeah? Come on, I want a selfie to remember today with my bestie."
"On my camera though... Your phone's camera is sad." She laughed. I didn't argue of course.
She took a photo of both of us, It's nice. The natural lighting hit us nicely with my house and it's decor in the background.
"Nice, that's a keeper all right." She said.
I smiled warmly at it and turned my attention to the bus stopping by our street.
"That's us." I said, walking to the bus doors that opened before us.
I got inside as Cyrine followed.
We waved at everyone we recognized before finally sitting down.
The ride to school was loud and obnoxious as always. But it's never bad with Cyrine's company.
~~~
Walking across the school grounds is proving to be a trial itself... Everyone is riled up for the year to come.
Cyrine slapped me on the shoulder, gaining my bad attention.
"Let's check out our first hour, I wanna drop my stuff off."
"Cyrine, you have a locker for a reason."
"Yeah......." She trailed off, clearly ignoring me.
My general school stuff was still in my locker, so we had to go our separate ways for a minute before meeting back at the halls.
"I'm looking forward to this year, aren't you?" She asked.
"Yeah, I am... And I don't know what's up with that, I had little to no motivation at the start of my Junior year, but now... please. I have dreams I want to pursue, careers I want to get... You know what I mean?"
