I nearly had a fit today
I misplaced something needed
I knew I should have taken care
The right procedure heeded
It wasn't on the nightstand
I didn't see it on the floor
It wasn't on my dresser top
Nor was it hanging on my door
I went through all my pockets
Checked the place I kept my keys
I scratched behind chair cushions
And the rug on bended knees
I couldn't go to work without it
It was required to start my day
Of all the things I had to have
It was essential to making hay
Finally in the bathroom
Where it had rested all the while
I looked into the mirror
And there I found my smile
