WRAPPED WITH LOVE

chapter 29

Abhi loved London. She was so immersed in her course work that she hardly found time to talk to her parents and friends . She skyped them once in a fortnight. That busy she was!

One fine day, she was getting ready for her presentation in her room early in the morning. It was the best opportunity to prove her skills. She was to present infront of a few fortune 500 listed CEO's .  The presentation had been scheduled to start at 10.00 A.M. She got ready by
8 'O clock and boarded a local train.  It was then she received a message from nithu . It read:" Abhi! Me and harsha are getting engaged next month".

Abhi was anxious.
She thought: what might have happened ? Engagement! This sudden? And i doubt i cant be there😌.

She called nithu to clear all her doubts.

Abhi: hey nithu,congos yar. Par itna jaldi yeh sab kaise?

Nithu: woh, my uncle saw a match for me. He discussed with my parents and they too  liked the boy. When they told the same to me, i thought its time to tell them about my relationship with harsha. So , i told them! They denied at first. But then ,my prince charming changed the entire situation into an auspicious one! He impressed my mom and dad by expressing how much he loved me and how he planned our future to be. Harsha's parents liked my studies and job offer our sir provided. So, its all cool!

Abhi: okay fine. But, why getting engaged now?

Nithu: Harsha has to leave for Germany next month. He was assigned a project of duration 2 years. So his parents want him to get engaged first. Marriage would be after 2  years.

Abhi: wow! Thats awesome nithu. Soo happy for you darling.

Nithu: can you come here next month Abhi?

Abhi: how can i ? I have been here for 3 months and its like 3 years for me! I am running with this world. I can see a lot of change in me. I am working when others are resting. I am working when others are eating. I am working when others are working! You remember the statement our Chemistry professor kalyani mehtha mam used to mention? 'Hardwork paysoff'

Nithu: hm. Yes. Your hard work definitely pays off. Hope you achieve the best!

Abhi realised that she has to get down at that station. She got down the train while speaking with nithu on phone.

Abhi: Thanks Nithu. You know what? I have an important presentation after an hour. This can change my life. I have been preparing for this day and night for the last 3 weeks.

Abhi stood with a shocking expression all of a sudden and began to search her surroundings keeping Nithu on hold.

Nithu: hello...hello... abhi
Are you there?

Abhi crying: nithu, i forgot my bag in the train. My files are in the bag! Damn it! Its all over. What do i do now. ?

Nithu: Abhi relax. Everything will be ok. Take  a cab or something. Go to the next station or contact someone who can help you. Go abhi. You have to get it at all costs and I believe you will.

Abhi: ok. I will try. Bye.

She hung up and ran to find a cab. No sooner had she reached the neighbouring railway station, than the train left. She could not board the train. It was 9:30.Not knowing what to do, she stood there crying.

She thought: all my dreams are shattered. How can i forget something very important? This should happen to me for my negligence. I lost everything.

A man from her behind spoke in a lower tone.' Mam? Here is your bag.'

Abhi turned around. She saw a man in his late 20's. She dragged her bag curiously and checked everything.

Abhi:  thank you so much.who are you? How did you find me here?

Man: please read the note attached to it.

Abhi looked at the note. It read:

''Sorry, i could not wrap this in a silver sheet! Sorry, I could not find a small girl either! Abhi, you won't lose anything in your life. Not even your bag as long as i am with you. Hold your boldness. Never be nervous. You will be the best!This man takes you to the destination . Trust me. All the best for your presentation abhi.

Abhi was completely impressed. She guessed that he had been following her since her arrival in london.

She looks at the man standing beside her. He sighs her to get in. She gets in and reaches her destination at 9:55.

She was  tensed.
She read the note again and took a deep breath . She felt confident. She urged into the auditorium after thanking the man.
The presentation went extraordinarily well! All the delegates were completely impressed with her ideas. She got an offer to work with a fortune 100 Swiss based company after completing her studies. She was also offered huge price money for her mesmerizing performance. She was filled with flying colors. She embraced every moment of joy which she wanted to share with her parents and friends.  As soon as she came out of the conference, she called her parents and friends. She shared her happiness with Arvind too.

That night, Abhi's professors threw a party on behalf of the UK University as a token of appreciation for Abhi's work.

All those whom she knew and who she did not know attended the party!
A few UK citizens are jealous of her success. They are her college mates in London. Whenever they think of troubling  her, someone or the other comes in between. But, Abhi just ignores them.
