Chapter I
"When I grow up I want to be a pilot.." Sky remembered, she declared during her kindergarten graduation. That was her answer when she was asked by her mother why she won't stop riding her bike and her skateboard, but she kept it to herself.
"Alam mo namang tayo nalang dalawa ang magkasama bakit ayaw mo pang ingatan ang sarili mo? why can't you just be like the other girls, be busy with your nails and shoes. Go shopping instead of playing hard with your chosen sports?" mahabang litanya ng mom nya.
"Please mom can you be at least a friend? we're having this conversation since I was ten, 18 na ako kelan ka ba mapapagod?" sagot niya habang nakangiti at naglalambing sa mom niya.
"(sigh) You just have to be more careful, I'm your mom I can't be used to seeing you with bruises everyday. Hindi kita pinalaki para lang masugatan." resigned na sabi ng mom niya.
"Yes mom. Thanks for understanding.. Promise I'll be more careful from now on. I'll be out po." Yun lang at lumabas na siya dala ang cruiser board niya. vinyl ung gamit niya, basa kasi sa daan kakatapos lang ng ulan.
Skylar is an only child. Her father died when she was little and she was homeschooled since she's 8. They're living in a private subdivision between the Fort and Ayala.
The cold wind blew against her hair. She was careful and fought the urge to do some tricks since she just had a cut on her left arm from a previous fall last night.
She was about to turn right when she was bumped by a hard thing on the head. She managed not to fall but her head hurts.
"Are you okay?" a male voice asked.
She can't respond since she's still feeling dizzy.
The guy looks worried but she can't clearly see the guy's face. She blinked twice, that's when she realized one of her lens was missing. She wore corrective contact lens since napakalabo na ng mata niya. 550 na grado niya.
"I guess I'm fine but I'm not having a clear vision."
"Geez I'm sure you're hit on the head but I never thought it would result to an injury!" the guy exclaimed.
Skylar laughed. "Hey don't freak out. It's just my lens, one of them decided to fall off and bail on me."
"Is that so? hmm I know an optical shop around, come I'll buy you a new one." The guy held her left arm to guide her and her board on his other hand.
"Thanks but you don't have to, I can still see, all I have to do is close one eye, look" she closed her left eye and smile.
"See just like a pirate I'll find my way to my island."
the guy chuckled. "nah I won't let you bump another ship captain."
Skylar laughed dahil sinakyan naman ng lalaki yung humor niya.
