By the time my birthday rolled around at the end of the month, everyone in the house was back to normal. It turned out we all caught a case of the flu, with Sam being the only exception of course. April 24th that year fell on a Sunday. No matter where you wind up on a Sunday, most businesses close early, so I wasn't really planning on going anywhere that day. The men and Marissa, however, had other plans for me. In fact, they planned out my entire day from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. It started with my three housemates surprising me with breakfast in bed. Following breakfast, Sam had set me up with a candlelit bath in my Jacuzzi tub. When I finished my bath, he had my clothes all neatly laid out for me on the bed. Now usually when we're going out for the day, he'll pick out a dress, but he had chosen a baby doll tee and a pair of jeans. I got dressed and headed downstairs where the entire family, Dad and Marissa and my babies included, were waiting for me. "Happy Birthday!" they all shouted. "Thanks," I said with a smile. "Are you enjoying your special day so far?" Sam asked. "Let's see," I replied. "Y'all are waiting on me hand and foot right now, so I would be an idiot if I wasn't l enjoying it." "You haven't seen anything yet, pumpkin," Dad said. "We have so much to do in so little time," Declan added. "Hold up," I said. "Y'all planned out the entire day???" "Of course we did," Marissa smiled. "When was the last time you had a decent birthday?" "Probably three years ago, when we had the party for me AND Sam," I admitted. "That's what we figured," Dean said. "So we planned a fun-filled day for you." "Well then, what are we waiting for?" I smiled. "Let's go enjoy ourselves." Our day started out at the go-kart track, where Dean and Declan went head to head (with Dad as Declan's driver). We followed that with lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant. Once we had all eaten more than we should have, we drove around some until we came to the miniature golf course. Dad and I tied for first place, while the other three just goofed around the entire time. From the miniature golf course, we moved on to the indoor water park. While most of the rides were a little too mature for Cam, I did take him on quite a few of the water slides....he absolutely loved it, which made mommy happy. After about two hours of watery fun, I asked everyone else if they were ready to go home. "We have one more stop before we head home, princess," Dean said, handing me a duffel bag. "Go and get changed. We'll meet you out by the cars." Doing as I was told, I headed for the ladies' room and opened up the duffel bag. Inside was a beautiful pink dress, a pair of matching shoes, and some pantyhose. Sam had also packed a hair brush and some hair accessories, so I was able to fix my hair. When I was completely ready, I made my way out of the restroom and out into the parking lot. "You look absolutely stunning," Dad commented. "Gorgeous," Sam agreed with a smile. "Everyone else looks just as good," I replied. "So where are we headed?" "Do you remember the restaurant where I took you for Valentine's Day?" Sam asked. "I loved that place!" I exclaimed. "We made arrangements for a private room," Declan said. "I know my birthday isn't over yet, but this has been the best one so far," I smiled. "Thank you all!" "Don't thank us until the night is almost over," Marissa winked. "There is one more surprise waiting for you at home." Dinner was absolutely amazing; the staff even came out singing "Happy Birthday" to me. Usually I'd be embarrassed by something like that, but seeing as my family went through a lot of trouble to make this night happen, I thanked them and then gave my cupcake to Cam. Later on, as we pulled into the driveway, I caught a glimpse of a car that I had never seen before. "You guys planned a surprise party, didn't you?" I teased. "No," Dean said, very seriously. "There is an unknown car in my driveway," I told him. "I just figured it must be someone you guys know." "Why would we invite people you don't know to your birthday party, sweetie?" Sam asked. "I guess that wouldn't make sense," I agreed. "So then what's the deal with the car? Did Marissa get a new car?" "She came over with Dad in the truck, silly," Declan said. "That doesn't answer my question, though," I replied. None of the boys said another word, apparently waiting on me to make the next move. I sat there in silence for a good few minutes before a thought popped into my head: HOLY CRAP!! "Y'all bought me a car???" I shrieked. "We all chipped in, Dad and Marissa too," Declan said. "We figured rather than you having to rely on borrowing Baby or Marissa's car, you should have your own form of transportation," Dean smiled. "Oh my God!!!" I was so stoked. I jumped out of the car and ran toward my birthday present. "This is absolutely the best birthday ever!!" "Hey, you haven't tasted my cake yet," Declan replied. "You baked a cake for me?" I asked. "I had the best teacher ever," he smiled. "I don't know what I did to get so lucky," I said, getting a little teary eyed. "I take it she liked her gift," Dad replied, walking over with Marissa and the kids. "I love it!" I shouted, throwing my arms around both of them at the same time. I moved on from them to Dean, then Declan, and finally Sam. "Why don't we go inside and have some cake?" Dean suggested. We did just that...it was amazing! Declan did an awesome job. After everyone went home or to bed for the night, I turned to Sam and I said, "This was THE best birthday I've had in a long time. I have a feeling most of it was your idea, and for that I thank you." "My sweetheart deserves nothing but the best," he smiled. You might think a night like that would end with what many would call "birthday sex," but I was perfectly content throwing on a movie and falling asleep in my husband's arms. To me, that was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
