I Love You

Ben's POV
I sit in the ICU, holding Rey's hand. She's been in a coma for a month now.

Gwen, Hux, and my mom finally informed me that Rey is here because she pushed me out of the way of a speeding car that ran the red light.

It's my fault she's here.

I watch her heart monitor beat and make waves. I look out the window and see the sun setting declaring another day is ending shortly.

I lay my head down next to her cold hand that I cling to. "Hey sunshine. I have faith that you'll pull through." I squeeze her hand. "I know you will. Cause you're a fighter. That's just what you do... You fight for what you believe in and you're stubborn too." I sit back up. "Maybe right now you're being stubborn because you're grieving over Finn and this is how you get to be alone right now." I smile at her. "The nurse told me this is all up to you. You control the outcome." I tell her. "She also said you could hear me." I chuckle to myself. "I know I've been mostly sitting here, just holding your hand and waiting for your eyes to open, but I feel I should tell you this." I look down at her hand. "There is a waiting room full of people waiting to see you. Absolutely full. I know Finn is gone and he seemed like the only family you had, but you still have one. Your blood family, Finn, and Poe may be waiting for you in heaven, but you still have a family here with me. We could create our own family too, Rey." The tears begin to blur my eyes and I blink them back. "But I know with everyone gone it may be hard to contuine, so I want you to know." I look at her eye lids. "As much as I want you to fight to be here with me right now. I... I under..." I grab her hand with both of mine. "I understand and it's okay if you want to go. As much as I want you to fight like hell. If you want to go, you can go."

The tears pour from my eyes and that's when I feel my hand get squeezed I look down at my hand.

I stare waiting for Rey to squeeze my hand again.

The heart monitor in the room fills the silence in the room with its soft beeps.

"Ben?" I hear Rey whisper out for me.

"Rey." I look up to her face and into her beautiful eyes.

"I love you."

Silence.

The beeping stops and the sudden flat line fills the room.

"I love you too Rey."
