Chapter 10

"You seem stressed," Darunia said to me. We were alone and eating soup that some Gorons had made. It tasted good with beef and turnips. Simple but good. Still, he was right and I couldn't focus well.
"Why did you want to talk to me?" I changed the subject. He rubbed his beard. He sighed.
"Honestly Rhion, I don't know. We are in great danger from the shadow Beasts and need help. I thought you would be the one to talk to about an alliance. Asriel, well I sense he is uncertain about himself and Bowser Jr. seems like he has a bit of a temper."
"You're correct on both ends," I replied putting down the bowl of soup. "I want to help Asriel, but I'm not sure how." I told Darunia about Asriel's condition.
"That is troubling," he said after I was done. "Where did you find him?"
I shifted uneasily. "He said a girl named Aqua found him in a cave near where we live."
"Hmmm," he rubbed his chin again. "Be right back." He ran into the other room. He came back with a small vile of liquid. "This vile can restore lost memories," he said handing it to me. "It is a bit of a risk but I'm sure it will work."
"What do you mean-" I was cut off by the captain, Bowser Jr. and Asriel running in.
"Lizafoes are attacking the entrance," he told us.
"They're not alone either," Asriel replied which startled me. "Shadow Beasts are with them too."
"Grr," Darunia growled. "They must be aware of you three. Captain, prepare everyone for battle." The captain nodded and left. "I'm assuming you two will fight?" He asked Bowser Jr. and me. We both nodded.
I turned to Asriel. "Please stay in here," I asked him.
"But-" he was cut off by an explosion. He nodded. I ran out with Darunia and Bowser Jr. right behind me.

The battle had already started when we got out. Shadow Beasts were everywhere jumping on Gorons and slashing them. Bowser Jr. tucked his head in his shell and started to spin. He rammed into the Lizafoes which were breathing fire. He took most out in one hit. I ran into combat, helping any Gorons out who had fallen. The captain was fighting near the entrance. He used a fire staff, which was a rare weapon that shot flames out of its orb, to burn enemies to a crisp. He swung it around in a giant loop and fire encircled him. I slashed any Shadow Beasts who came near me. I found out Lizafoes hated my water attacks so I used that on them. I created a giant wave of water around me and created shock waves of water to get any enemies around me.
"Rhion, watch out!" Someone shouted. I dodged in time to avoid getting squished by a dragon coming down. It transformed into a man. Taller then me his helmet covered his eyes and I could see black streaks under them. He radiates heat so much I was afraid I'd get burned. He held a black spear.
"So you're the one who's been causing trouble," he said to me in a deep voice. I knew him. The dragon knight, Volga. I noticed all enemies were avoiding us.
He charged me. I used his spear as leverage and jumped up to avoid him. I produced another wave of water to harm him and to break my fall. I heard something steaming.
"Graaa," he shouted. He charged me again. I knew I couldn't face him head on with my small sword, so I produced another wave. This time, he dodged out of the way. He started to breath fire and sent a spiral at me. I knew I couldn't dodge or protect myself with water magic. But I did have something. I put my hands up just as the fire reached me. A golden shield covered me from the fire.
"What?" He questioned. "How?"
"Behind you!" A voice shouted. The captain jumped over me and sent a powerful shockwave at the dragon knight. He was gone.
"Well, that was dramatic," he claimed turning around to face me. His helmet had come off and I could now see his face. He had red fur covering him and purple eyes. He had a childish look on his face.
"Rhion!" Bowser Jr. shouted. He ran towards us and stoped when he saw the captain.
"K-Knuckles?" He asked. I took a step back.
"Uhh, heya BJ. I-"
"You three!" A Goron shouted at us.
"The Chieftain would like to speak with you."
