Chapter 11

We followed the Goron back to the chieftains room. Knuckles stood to my left, clearly wanting to put a little distance between the mad Bowser Jr. and himself. We headed into the chamber where Darunia was knelt over something. He stood up looking worried. He stepped aside silently to see Asriel was unconscious on the floor.
"Asriel!" I yelled and ran over to him. I quickly checked him. A bruise was on his face near his mouth and he had a large wound on his arm.
"Brother, what happened?" Knuckles asked. Darunia shook his head as BJ came over to see.
"I was fighting off some more Shadow Beasts and heard a scream. When I came in he was on the floor and someone teleported away. I couldn't see them." I growled thinking who could have done it.
"Rhion, can't you see past events?" Bowser Jr. asked. "Maybe we can see what happened." Both Darunia and Knuckles looked confused.
"I have an ability that can allow me see into the past. Unfortunately, I can't see recent events. So, no, I can't see what happened." I sighed. "We should try and stop the bleeding. Darunia, do you have anything to clean his wound." He nodded and ran off leaving the three of us alone.
"Four months," Bowser Jr. said angrily startling me in the process. "You worried us for four months about where you were. Why?" Knuckles looked very scared.
"L-look just calm down," he said raising his arms, his voice slightly higher. "I have a perfectly good explanation to why I disappeared."
"Then. Explain. Now," Bowser Jr. demanded trying to not lose his cool.
"Alright alright." He sighed. "When I was on the scouting mission with Amy, Sonic, and Tails, I got lost. I found a cave to hide in but it was overrun with monsters. I tried to take them out with my knuckles but, as much as I hate to say this,  I couldn't. I can't remember much of what happened but Darunia found the cave and saw me with the fire staff. Afterwards, he said he could teach me to control my powers. It was only supposed to be until I could control them then I would return, but when the Lizafoes attacked I kinda had to stay to help the Gorons." Silence. It was only broken by Darunia returning with some cloth to clean the wound and bandages. I didn't know much how to properly clean the wound but I did the best I could. I wrapped the wound up to make sure the bleeding wouldn't start again.
"That's the best I can do until we get back home. Ortinsia can take it from there." I turned to Darunia. "We can try to send troops to help you out, but not many." He nodded.
"You're coming with us!" Bowser Jr. suddenly shouted at Knuckles as he tried to escape.
"W-who me? I-I can't go. I need to-"
"Brother," Darunia interrupted, "you should go back. We can handle ourselves with the new reinforcements."
"Who's side are you on?!" Darunia gave Knuckles a glare. "Fine fine. Just protect me from him," he asked me, pointing at BJ.
"Oh trust me," BJ answered, "I'm the least of your concerns."

We took a short route home through the forest. What do you mean you're the least of his concerns? I asked Bowser Jr. telepathy. Trust me, Amy's going to be even more mad. He told me. I nodded. It was true, as much of a sweetheart Amy could be, she was fiercely protective of her friends and if you saw her with her hammer when she's mad, you'd most likely run the crap away. I carried Asriel in my arms like you might do with a baby. The climate soon turned to cold snow as we got closer. I noticed the snow beneath Knuckles feet melted. We came up the ridge near the facility and saw two people on lookout.
"Oh great," Knuckles said as we got closer. The one lookout person dropped down right on Knuckles.
"You big idiot!" Amy shouted. "You had us worried and you never bothered to come home!" Sonic, the second lookout, came up behind her and picked her up off Knuckles.
"Nice to see you again Knuckles," he said as Amy tried to get out of his grip, cursing and calling both of them names.
"Yeah nice to see you too. Do you mind keeping the deranged cat off me?" He asked getting up.
"Hate to kill the reunion but we have an issue." I said. Amy stoped fighting as she saw Asriel in my arms.
"What-How?" She was clearly scared.
"Let's get him to Tinse." Tails said coming up behind us.
"Alright then you've got some explaining to do," Amy said furiously.
