My gaze didn't falter on the house that loomed over me. It was beautiful. Something straight out of a book. I didn't have to see the inside to know that it had high ceilings and a balcony.
If I didn't feel inferior before, I do now. I shrink back and lean against the car door as Phoebe rounds the side.

"Welcome to the big house." She says and waves her hand toward the house and heads in the direction of the front door.

The big house. Well, that's a name for it. It's big alright. And inherently something a rich person would have, namely the Grey's. I move to follow behind her.

My steps slowing as the front door opens and there stands Theo. His gaze lands on his sister first and then me. His eyes darken and a grim line sets in his mouth.

Was he watching? Waiting for us?

He doesn't move or say a word until we've reached the doorway. "Phoebe, who is your guest?"

I flinch in reaction. I'll play along. If he doesn't want to acknowledge the fact the he knows me, then I don't either. The hurt stings, but it's nothing I've not felt before.

Rejection. Fück rejection.

"This is Cora. The one I told you about. Mom said she had to meet her. So I asked her to come along with me today."

She talked about me to him? I just assumed that her mother was the only one. I give him a weak smile which doesn't alter his. He's pissed, and though he doesn't show it, I can tell it by his body language. His stiff exterior matches the storm brewing inside.

"Mom and dad are in the dining room."

Phoebe grabs my hand and off we go. I sneak a glance back a Theo, who is still standing by the door. His eyes narrow trailing up and down my body, then he nods to me. I see a small smirk appear and disappear quickly.

Angry Theo. A rush hits me. Adrenaline. Reality sends that dose flailing because now I know that I'll be up against him and his father.

The house is as enchanting as I thought. And very old. They've remodeled most of it but kept the basic structure. I suddenly feel more out of place than ever.

We round a corner and come into the dining room. I meet the gaze of their parents first before I take in the rest of the room.

There is a long dining table set in the middle of the room, that could probably hold twenty people. Ten chairs sit on each side. The rest of the room is modern, decorated with paintings and sculptures from well known artists.

"Mom. Dad. This is Coraline Hawthorne." Phoebe says tugging on my hand bringing my attention back to them.

"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Grey." I say swinging my hand out for them to shake.
