A month had passed and everything was back to normal. Erik's depression had slowly faded, he still had his moments but they would fade in time. Erik had gone back to work along with Christine. James had gotten a house on the outskirts of Paris. As for Raoul, well, nobody knew where he was.

Erik slid the mask on his face as he prepared to walk upstairs. "Christine, are you coming with me?" He asked and she nodded. Christine wrapped her cloak around her slim body and grabbed his hand.

When they reached Erik's office, he unlocked the door and then closed it behind them. Erik walked over to the calender hanging on the wall and sighed. "Auditions." He muttered and sat in the chair at his desk.

"Auditions for Carmen are next week." Erik explained and Christine nodded her head in understanding. Erik pulled our a stack of scripts and placed them on the desk. "I'm going to go pass these out. I'll be back shortly." He said and carried the scripts out.

When he opened the office door Meg was standing there. "Miss Giry, it's a pleasure to see you." Erik said and he kissed her hand.

"You as well, Monsieur Destler." She replied with a smile. Meg entered the office and sat beside Christine as Erik walked out.

"Can I talk to you, Chrissy?" Meg asked, using the nickname from their childhood.

"Of course, Meg. You can tell me anything." Christine replied and Meg smiled brightly and her eyes seemed to sparkle.

"I think I'm in love!" Meg squealed and Christine grabbed her hands.

"Tell me more!"

"I think I'm in love with Monsieur Destler." Meg started and Christine choked on the water she had just taken a sip of.

Meg took notice of this and become worried. "Are you ok, Chrissy? Did I say something wrong."

"No, I'm fine! Please continue." Christine replied.

"He's just so handsome and kind. I really love him, Chrissy. I just don't know how to tell him." Meg said, obviously in love. Her eyes were dreamy and a huge smile was plastered on her face. And that was when Christine realized that she couldn't tell her that Erik was already in a relationship. It would hurt Christine too much to crush Meg's dreams.

"Wow, Meg! That's amazing!" Christine lied. She played it off with a smile on her face as she pulled Meg in for a hug.

"Enough about me. What are you doing in here?" Meg asked and Christine had to think of an excuse.

"We were discussing my part in Carmen." Christine said and Meg seemed to believe her. At that moment Erik entered the office and smiled at the two women.

"Monsieur Destler, you look quite dashing today." Meg complimented and Erik thanked her. Meg got up to leave but before she did she walked over and swiftly kissed Erik on the cheek. She blushed profusely as she left the office.

Erik was frozen in place and he looked quite awkward. "Do you have any idea what that was about?" Erik asked Christine once Meg was gone.

"I'm sure she was just being nice." Christine assured him. Christine knew she couldn't keep this a secret forever. Eventually she would have to tell Meg to keep her safe. Safe from heartbreak and safe from Erik's temper. If Meg told him, Erik would most likely get angry. Meg didn't know how to deal with Erik's temper. Christine, on the other hand, knew his temper perfectly well from two years of marriage.

Erik stood and walked over to Christine. She stood up and looked in his eyes. His arms wrapped around her and she sighed contently. Christine stretched up and pecked his lips but Erik held her against him and the kiss lasted longer than expected. Christine smiled at him when they broke apart. "Mon cher mari." Christine whispered and the french rolled off her tongue perfectly in a sing song voice.

Erik reluctantly unwrapped his arms from around her when there was a knock on the door. "Come in!" Erik called as he sat back down at his desk. The door opened to reveal the Persian. "What do you want, Nadir?" Erik asked.

"Have you read this?" Nadir asked as he held up the newspaper. Erik grabbed the paper from his hands and sat back down. Christine walked over to him and peered over his shoulder. Knowing it was safe to, Erik removed his mask and put his glasses on so he could read the newspaper easier.

"Raoul De Changy had a torrid affair and he wrote it down right there." Erik read aloud and Christine gasped.

"I didn't even know he was married." Christine mused and Erik laughed.

"God bless her."

"It says that he got married a month ago to a woman by the name of Edith Lefevre. But just a week after his wedding he began sleeping with one of the maids." Christine said and Erik just shook his head.

"And this is why he's a fop. You never cheat on a woman. That's awful!" Erik said and Christine smiled. It was good to know that her husband was loyal. She never doubted Erik's devotion but she was glad to hear him say that.

"I'm glad you feel that way, love." Christine commented and Erik smiled up at his wife.

"Well, now we know where the Vicomte went." Nadir said and Erik nodded. Having the Vicomte gone was definitely a weight lifted off of their shoulders but more problems arose too. For example, they now needed to new patron.

Erik decided that he would deal with that later. Right now he was happy because his sworn enemy was being charged for adultery. Erik smiled at the thought of Raoul in jail and laughed.

Life was good.

(A/N): There are a couple references from a couple different musicals in here. There's also some French that I covered in the last Author's Note but I'll go over it again.
