James watched as Madame Giry talked to Christine. He heard her tell Christine that Erik would come around eventually and that it was fine, but James wouldn't have it. As his father, James felt the need to talk to Erik himself.
James dismissed himself and walked towards Erik's office. He knocked swiftly on his door and waited for Erik's indignant reply. "Come in." Erik said and James pushed the door open and closed it behind him.
"Your wife is out in the hall crying." James started and Erik sighed.
"I'm sure Antoinette is helping her. But really, if that's all you needed the please see yourself out." Erik said finally looking up. His glasses, which he barely ever wore, rested on the bridge of his nose. His mask was off, which left his deformity fully exposed.
"That's the thing! Antoinette shouldn't have to help her because she shouldn't be crying." James said and Erik looked down at the papers in front of him. James was right, Christine wouldn't be crying if Erik had just let her help him.
"Well, I'm sorry that my wife's crying is annoying you." Erik said nonchalantly. James shook his head and stood up.
"You're lucky she hasn't divorced you yet." James said before turning around and walking out of Erik's office. Erik stood up, threw his glasses off, and grabbed James roughly by the neck.
"And you're lucky I haven't snapped your neck yet." Erik sneered as he pushed James against that wall. James desperately tried to free himself but Erik was much stronger. "Don't test me, James. Must I remind you that I've killed many people." Erik yelled as his grip on his father's neck got stronger and tighter.
"Erik stop!" He heard a voice yell. He looked over to see Christine with a horrified look on her face. "You said that you wouldn't kill anymore!" Christine cried and Erik dropped James.
"Christine, it's not what it looks like-" Erik tried to explain but Christine cut him off.
"No! You barely listen to me anymore. I'm done with you always saying 'just listen to me.' Well right now you're going to listen to me!" Christine yelled and the room got silent. "Anything I ever say flies out the door! You always want me to listen to you, but you never pay me back. You're not the same husband you used to be. I want my Erik back! Not this hormonal, depressed, murderous Erik. That's not the man I married! And if that's who you are now, then I will get those divorce papers from the court and I will sure as hell be signing them!" Christine screamed in his face. Erik sighed and walked around her to where his father was, still laying on the ground.
He held out a hand for James and helped him up. Erik wrapped his arms around his father who returned the hug. "I'm sorry," Erik cried and walked over to Nadir. Nadir clapped Erik on the shoulder and pulled him into a hug before pushing him over to Madame Giry. Erik said sorry to Antoinette before slowly walking over to his wife.
He exhaled deeply and waited for her to yell at him again. "We're going home and treating your wounds." Was all she said as she walked put of her husband's office. Christine descended the stairs that led to their house while he stayed away from her.
When they reached the house on the lake, Christine walked over to Erik and unbuttoned his shirt. She slid the fabric off of his shoulders and threw it to the ground. "Lay down on the couch so I can treat the wounds on your back." Christine said and Erik didn't dare to disobey her.
Christine got alcohol and a rag from the kitchen. She poured the alcohol onto the wounds and Erik winced in pain. Christine gently dabbed at the wounds with the rag before stitching them up and bandaging them. "Do I need to take a look at your foot?" Christine asked but Erik shook his head. Christine started to walk away but Erik stopped her.
"Christine!" He called and she turned around. "Could we have dinner together tonight? I'll cook or do anything else you want me too." Erik asked and Christine had to think. She wanted to deny him because she was angry, but Christine knew his heart couldn't take anymore hurt today. Especially from his own wife.
"Yes, but you have to promise me one thing." Christine walked back over to him and grabbed his hands.
"Anything for you, Christine."
"No more killing, please. I need you to be able to raise our child to the best of your ability. For me and this child. No more harming people." Christine said and Erik nodded in agreement. Christine leaned up and pressed her forehead against his. "I love you." She whispered and Erik leaned down and kissed her lips.
"I love you more." Erik replied after they had pulled apart. Christine smiled and hugged him tightly against her. She was happy right where she was. And she was so excited to be a mother.
