Christine was talking with Meg as they walked down the halls of the Opera Populaire. "I told my mother about my feelings for Monsieur Destler, but she wasn't very supportive." Meg said and Christine sighed. It was getting harder not to tell Meg.
"I'm sure she just doesn't want you to grow up so fast." Christine told her and she nodded.
"Thanks, Chrissy. You really make me feel better." Meg said and hugged Christine. Christine put a smile on her face as they continued to walk. When they saw Erik walking ahead, Meg immediately started checking her appearance. "How do I look? Is my hair ok?" Meg asked and Christine laughed.
"You're fine, Meg." Christine assured the nervous ballerina. Meg straightened her posture as they walked towards Erik.
"Miss Daaé, a pleasure to see you. And you as well, Miss Giry." Erik greeted them and Christine smirked. It was weird to hear Erik call her by her maiden name considering she now had his last name.
Meg smiled at Erik and wrung her hands in front of her. "Monsieur Destler, I would like to invite you to dinner at my house tonight." Meg proposed and Christine mentally cursed herself. Erik wasn't supposed to find out about this. Christine turned to walk away but Erik's menacing voice stopped her.
"Miss Daaé, you're forgetting your place." Erik said and Christine looked down at her feet which were in fifth position. She still had some of her dancer moments. Ah, she missed those days sometimes.
"Miss Giry, I am your boss. We do not associate outside of work. Professionalism. Please learn the meaning or I will have a conniption." Erik said and Meg looked offended. Christine felt bad for her best friend.
Erik walked past them and continued walking towards his office. "Meg, please don't worry about this. Maybe he'll change his mind." Christine said soothingly. Christine was going to make sure he changed his mind. She loved her husband dearly but when he started disrespecting her best friend then Christine wasn't going to have it.
Meg sighed and continued walking to her dressing room. Once she was out of sight, Christine walked towards Erik's office. When she opened the door she crossed her arms and stood there.
"What was that about?" Christine demanded.
"I'm a married man, Christine. You, out of everyone, should know this. I'm not going to dinner with the Giry girl." Erik said and Christine rolled her eyes.
"Erik, she didn't propose to you! She just asked you to dinner. I think you should go. Madame Giry will be there too." Christine said and Erik sighed.
"You're hiding something from me, Christine. I can see it in your eyes." Erik said and Christine shook her head profusely. She laughed nervously and started to break out in sweat.
"No I'm not." Erik gave her that look and Christine sighed. "Meg is in love with you." Christine said and Erik gaped at her.
"She doesn't know we're married?" He asked and Christine shook her head. "You need to tell her."
"It's not that easy, Erik! I don't want to hurt her!" Christine said and she fell into one of the chairs. Erik walked over and kneeled in front of her.
"You need to tell her eventually. I can't go tonight, though. I have work to do." Erik stood back up and walked to his desk. Christine sighed and told him she was going home.
Christine walked through the catacombs until she finally reached the house. She went to the study and examined the huge bookshelf. She grabbed a book and sat on the couch to read.
Erik eventually came in and sat beside her. She leaned into his embrace and he kissed her head. She continued to read not letting Erik's presence disturb her. When Erik heard faint snoring he looked down to see Christine asleep with the book in her hands. He carefully lifted the book from her and set in on the table. He grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around both of them.
Erik leaned back into the couch and let himself fall asleep. "Sleep well, angel." Erik whispered and wrapped his arms tighter around her.

(1 week later)
"Please rehearse tonight. Remember, Carmen auditions are tomorrow. If you are not prepared you will not be in the show. You are dismissed!" Erik said and the members of the opera house walked out. Nadir and Christine stayed behind and helped clean up though.
"You're both helping with auditions tomorrow, correct?" Erik asked and they both nodded. The main doors opened and Erik looked up.
James walked down the aisle and to the stage. "How are you all?" He asked with a smile.
"Wonderful, James. How are you?" Christine asked politely.
"Surviving." Janes replied nonchalantly. Erik laughed and raised his hand.
"I hear you!" He said and they all laughed. James assisted them in cleaning up and once they were finished they all walked down to the house on the lake. But when they arrived the door was open and things were scattered all over the place. As if someone had been there...
