Christine finished reading the book to Gustave before closing it and standing up from his bed. She covered him up and kissed his head. "Goodnight Gustave. I love you." Christine said.

"But Mama, Papa didn't kiss me goodnight yet." Gustave said and Christine sighed and sat on the edge of his bed and stroked his hair.

"Papa is sick right now, darling. He can't be near you." Christine explained and a tear ran down Gustave's cheek.

"No Papa?" Gustave asked before he started crying. Christine immediately lifter her son onto her lap and rocked him back and forth.

"Papa will get better. And then everything will go back to the way it was." Christine said soothingly. She pressed kisses into his hair as his crying subsided. Gustave snuggled up against her and rubbed his eyes.

"Promise?" He asked as he looked up at his mother.

"Promise." She assured him and he smiled. Christine tucked him back into bed and bade him goodnight. She blew out the candle and silently closed the door before walking down the hall to the master bedroom.

Christine walked to Erik's side and pulled the blankets up to his chin. His eyes opened and he smiled at Christine. "Was Gustave good for you?"

"He was alright. He cried some but I got him to calm down." Christine replied and Erik nodded. They sat in silence for sometime until Christine yawned.

"You're tired, my love. Go to sleep. I'll be fine." Erik said and Christine was about to argue but Erik held up a hand.

"Alright. I love you, Erik." She said and he nodded.

"I love you too." He responded and Christine gave his hand a little squeeze before standing and making her way to the guest bedroom.

She changed into her nightgown and got into the bed before blowing out the candle and attempting to fall asleep. She felt so lonely without Erik's arms wrapped around her waist. She missed him. He was only in the next room, but she still missed him.

Eventually she felt her body relax and be pulled into sleep. In the morning, she immediately walked to the master bedroom. Erik was sleeping peacefully and she smiled. She didn't want to wake him, but he needed to take his medicine.

Christine gently shook his shoulder and waited for his eyes to flutter open. Erik slowly sat up with a pounding headache. He laid back down and groaned into the pillow.

"Darling, you need to take your medicine." Christine said and Erik sat back up. Christine handed him the pills and the water and watched as he took the medication. He laid back down and pulled the blankets tighter around him. "My poor angel." Christine whispered as she stroked his forehead.

"Did you sleep well?" Erik asked worriedly. Even when he was the one sick, he still always put Christine first.
"I would've rather been here with you, but I was fine." Christine assured him and he smiled. Silence came over them until Christine heard Gustave call for her from his bedroom. Christine quickly put her robe over her nightgown.

She stood up and walked to his bedroom and opened the door. "Good morning, Mama!" Gustave exclaimed and Christine smiled. She picked him up and placed him in her lap.

"Did you sleep well?" Christine asked and Gustave was about to respond when there was a knock on the door. Christine lifted Gustave to her hip and walked to the front door. She opened it to see a way to familiar face. Raoul De Changy.

Christine automatically gripped Gustave tighter. She wasn't going to let Gustave get hurt. "Madame Destler, it's a pleasure to see you." Raoul said as he kissed her hand.

"What are you doing here, Raoul?" She asked and Raoul just laughed. Christine really didn't find any of this funny. She should have been taking care of her husband.

"I heard your husband came down with pneumonia. It'd be such a shame if he died." Raoul said and Gustave looked mad. He did have Erik's temper so this wouldn't end well.

"Mama said that Papa is going to get better." Gustave said matter of factly. Raoul laughed and looked Gustave right in the eyes.

"Well your mother lied. That monster you call your father is going to die." Raoul said and Gustave started crying. Christine rubbed his back and tried to calm him down. She wanted to run forward and kill Raoul for saying that to her son.

"Gustave, everything is going to be alright. I want you to go to your room and play with your toys." Christine said as she let him down.

Once he was out of sight, Christine stepped forward and slapped Raoul. He looked shocked that she had just done that. "Don't talk to my son like that." Christine said and she heard Ayesha hiss from behind her.

"Christine, the real reason I'm here is because I want to offer my apologies." Raoul said and Christine laughed.

"That's kind of you, Raoul. But I'm afraid I can not forgive you." Christine said and he nodded.

"I figured that. Well, I should be going. It was nice to see you, Madame Destler." Raoul said as he politely kissed her hand before walking away. Christine stood shocked until she heard little feet come running in.

"Is the mean man gone, Mama?" Gustave asked and Christine lifted him up and nodded. Christine set him down and watched him wander over to his toys. The more she watched him, the more she realized how much he looked like Erik.

Gustave wandered over to the piano and climbed up onto the bench. "I want to play the piano." Gustave said as he looked at the keys.

"When Papa is all better, I'm sure he'd be delighted to teach you." Christine said and Gustave smiled. All Christine could do was hope that Erik would get better. She prayed every night that Erik could overcome this. She wanted to have a future with him. Maybe even more children with him.
