***Selena's POV***

The rest of the night with my mom pretty much went as planned. We got ice cream, movies, and talked a bunch.

Now is another dreadful day though. The weekend has ended along with my two extra days off for recovery that I didn't really need.

I tried to be early so I could arrive before anyone was in the halls but I couldn't find my left sandal so I am almost exactly on time and the school is swarming with kids. Great.

I sigh and step out of my car. It's a sky blue Mustang convertible but I have the hood up for purposes you can guess.

I put my pink Chanel hat on as if it would make nobody notice.

I walk as fast as possible but people still look and gasp. The whole school found out about my cancer but I guess the detail about me being bald never got out.

The students around me erupt into whispers and some even giggle. I roll my eyes and strut down the hall like its any normal day.

I stop at my locker to get my things and notice a card taped to the front.

'Meet me in front of the football field after 1st period. Gotta talk with you. -Jake' it says.

Immediately a smile spreads across my face. He is the sweetest thing!

I make my way to first period, my American History class, with a radiant smile on my face.

"Hey Selena you look good!" Sierra Lanes, a senior on the girls volleyball team tells me.

Sierra is naturally a sweet girl, even though she's quite popular herself. She is the MVP of the volleyball team after all and is one of the top five prettiest girls in our school.

I smile and thank her, taking a step into the classroom with a little more confidence. One compliment can go a long way.

That's what my mom always used to tell me. A single compliment or act of kindness can save someone's life.

First period flies by in a second and as soon as the bell rings I hurry to the football field, where I am standing and waiting now.

Jake is a few minutes late but I wait patiently. First period he has Spanish class and the teacher is a complete witch. She doesn't allow you to leave unless you say a required sentence in Spanish.

I wait for a little longer until I see a masculine figure approaching me. I can tell that it's Jake almost immediately.

As soon as he is within perfect vision I begin feeling more self conscious than ever. This is the first time he would see me without hair.

He hasn't been able to visit because of football practice and all of the homework the teachers have been assigning lately.

Soon he is standing in front if me. I notice a twinge of emotion in his eyes before he looks down at his hands. O swear he grimaced but I couldn't quite tell.

"Hey babe," he says, still looking down.

"Hi," I mumble.

"So the session went well I guess," he murmurs, still not bothering to look up. This causes me to start getting aggravated.

"Is it so bad that you can't even look at me?!" I shout, throwing my hands in the air.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know I have to gravel at your feet in your presence every time I talk to you!" he shouts back.

My mouth drops open and tears spring to my eyes. I can't lose him too. I can't lose my best friend and boyfriend because of cancer.

"I-Im sorry," I mumble.
