*Selena's POV*

I finish my 'hair',make up, and change. I check the time and see that the party started about five minutes ago.

"How do I look?" I ask, stepping from the closet for Lucy to see me.

"Amazing as usual," she mutters with her arms crossed across her chest. I can tell she is just joking but does think I look good.

I have a wig that looks almost exactly like my actual hair on, black skinny jeans, a red and black striped tank top, and a black leather jacket on.

"We should get going, Mark lives about ten minutes away," I say.

She nods and looks herself over in the mirror one last time. O see one think in her eyes, proudness. She is happy with how she looks.

"We're going out for a while mom! Ill be back by midnight!" I shout up the stairs to my moms office.

"No you won't missy! You will be back by eleven! We cannot have anything happen to you and for gods sake Selena, no alcohol intake. You have cancer and going out to a party will not change that. You could die and I do not want to lose my baby girl," my mother cries, pulling me into a hug.

"I promise momma. I will be fine," I mumble into her neck.

I can tell she is truly fearing losing me so I decide I should keep that promise.

"Bye honey," she says, another tear escaping her eye.

Before I close the door behind me I mouth, "I love you," to her. If anything does happen I want those to be the last word I tell her.

She smiles and I shut the door, rushing over to meet Lucy in my car.

"Your mom is really worried about you," Lucy states as soon as I sit in the drivers seat.

"Yeah. Who's mom wouldn't be worried about their daughter dying?" I shrug, starting the ignition.

"There are people on the world who are poor and do not receive that much love from their parents you know," she says.

"Yeah I know," I sigh.

"So you are going to listen to her right?" She asks.

"That's the plan. I have a bottle of Gatorade in the back in case everything is spiked."

She smiles at me thankfully. Why does she care so much anyway? It seems like everyone acts as if I should be babysat every second of the day!

"Sorry for acting like I'm lecturing you of something. I just saw the care and worry in your mothers eyes and it brought so something out in me," she says softly.

"It's fine. We'll be there in about two minutes," I say, turning in the radio.

There are only commercials on but I don't change it. I'm not actually listening to the music, Im looking at Lucy from the rear view mirror.

She looks like she is suddenly emotionless. No more excitement, no more happiness, no more emotion at all. She is just staring out the window with a straight face.

I mentally groan and think that maybe I said or did something wrong.

Just seconds later I pull into the full drive way of Marks house. There are already people milling around the front yard.

Torches are lit up surrounding the drive way. There are party streamers hanging from trees and lights wrapped around the big fence.

"Ready?" I ask but don't wait for a response. Instead I immediately climb from the car and start up the drive way.
