Chapter 32
I wake up in the morning and my mom is still curled up in bed beside me. I smile at her sleeping figure and slowly sneak out of bed.
I rush down the steps and start to pull out several ingredients from the fridge. Soon enough I am putting blueberry muffins into the oven while whisking eggs in one bowl and waffle batter in another.
I finish cooking the eggs and waffles while the muffins are in the oven and rushingly put bacon on the griddle. The timer goes off for the oven and I pull the muffins out. While they cool I finish the bacon. When done I place two strips of bacon, two muffins, two of over-easy eggs, and three waffles topped with whipped cream and strawberries onto a large tray and pour a cup of orange juice before bringing it all upstairs.
"Good morning sunshine," I chirp, waking my mom up.
"Mm what time is it? And what's that wonderful smell?" her eyes shoot open and she grins at the food in my hands.
"It's going on 11:30 and I cooked breakfast for you," I grin.
"Oh Selena, you didn't have to," she smiles.
"We're going out today!" I say then grab the remote and turn the tv onto Americas Next Top Model for her.
"This is amazing sweetie, thank you," she says.
"Anything for the best mother ever. Now cooking for you made me hungry so Im going to go eat and then get ready!" I announce then scurry out.
I eat my food within half an hour then clean up everything. My mom makes her way down the stairs while Im in the middle of doing dishes. She rinses off her dishes and it's them in the dishwasher just as I finish.
"Okay go get ready, we're leaving in an hour," I state.
"Yes ma'am," she chuckles, mock saluting me then heading to her room. I hear her shower start so I go up to my room.
I quickly hop into the shower myself. Since our showers run off of separate water heaters her showering at the same time as me doesn't affect my water.
When I finish I do the usual, dry off, brush my hair, brush my teeth, then go out to my closet to choose my outfit.
check the temperature on the thermometer and notice that it is 87 degrees out. I grab a pair of plain denim shorts and a grey tank top with Mickey Mouse along with my black Vans. I decide to go hatless today and instead just throw sunglasses on top of my head. I quickly do my makeup as usual and then make my way down the steps.
"Are you ready yet mother?" I ask in a fake posh accent.
"Yeah, are you driving?" she asks.
"Well of course! I'm not going to make you drive to the surprise destination!" I wink, grabbing my keys. I turn around, just catching her sweet smile as I skip out the door.
"So you aren't going to tell me where we're going?" she asks from behind me.
"Nope. We will be there in just a few minutes," I tell her as we both climb in.
"You really don't have to do this sweetheart," she says.
"Mom. Stop. I have already told you that i know that I don't have to, I want to! Now don't wreck my mood. We're going to have a fun mother daughter day whether you like it or not,"" I say.
She nods, knowing that I will not allow any further statements on the subject.
In just under ten minutes I parallel park on Fifth Avenue. My mom looks out and grins.
