Kevin's approval is everything

2 days later.....

Colby's POV:

" Hi Mom, how are you? " I asked Mom through the phone.

" Everything's great dear, how are you? Congrats on winning the briefcase. I'm so proud of you. " she said. 

" Thanks Mom and everything's good here. How my little Kevin? " I asked. I missed my dog. He was the next important thing in my life, next to Mackenzie. If anything were to happen to him, I would die. 

" Kevin's good. I think he's missing his daddy though. This morning, I saw him staring at your picture. It actually looked like he was pouting. " Mom said, making me chuckle. 

" I miss him too. You can tell him I'll be home in a couple days. " I said. 

" You're coming to visit? " Mom asked. 

" Yeah, I'm gonna bring Mackenzie with me. " I said. 

" Your girlfriend right? I've seen you two on TV. Can I just say how much I like her. She reminds me of me when I was younger. " Mom said. 

" Now I know where I get my big ego from. " I chuckled. 

" Shut up. " she said. " So, when are you coming? "

" In a couple days. I need to talk to Mackenzie first. " I said. 

" Okay, whatever you do, don't force her. If she gets nervous, just give her a little time. " Mom said. 

" Okay. " I said. 

" Kevin, your daddy is coming home. " I heard Mom say. 

I could hear barking in the background. 

" Sounds like Kevin is excited. " I said. 

" He is. " Mom said. " I am too. I haven't seen my son in forever. "

" I missed you and dad and Brandon. Make sure they're all home when I come. " I said. 

" I will. Listen I gotta go. I need to feed Kevin. " Mom said. 

" Okay, bye. " I said. 

" Bye. " she said. 

I put my phone down and sat down on the bed. I was so stressed out. I just hoped everything would go smoothly. I was worried something would go wrong considering all the problems me and Mackenzie have gone through before. 

I felt someone massaging my head. I was a little confused until I looked up and saw Mackenzie. 

" Are you okay Colb? You look a little stressed. " Mackenzie asked. 

" Just work and stuff. You know how it is. " I said. 

" Yeah, lay down. Let me massage you properly. " she said. 

Mackenzie massaging my head felt nice so I lay down, my head on her lap and she massaged me.

I really wanted everything to go well. I was just scared that something could ruin everything. I needed to think positive though. Negative thoughts would only make me feel worse. I started thinking about what it would be like if Mackenzie said yes. 

" Babe, what are you smiling about? " Mackenzie asked. 

" Just thinking about you. " I smiled.

She blushed and bent down to kiss my forehead. She continued rubbing my head until I felt my eyes droop and I fell asleep. 

Mackenzie's POV:

Colby fell asleep in my lap. I felt bad for him. He looked really stressed out. He said it was work but I didn't think that was the reason. I lifted his head up and placed it on the pillow, letting him sleep.

Colby's POV:

I woke up and saw Mackenzie lying down next to me, on her phone. 

" Nice sleep babe? " she asked, putting her phone away. 

" Yeah, thanks for that massage. I needed that. " I said. 

" No problem. " she said. 

" So, I needed to talk to you about something. " I said. 

" What is it? " she asked. 

" Well, earlier, I was talking to my mom and she really wants to meet you, along with the rest of my family. " I said. 

" Oh. " she said. 

" You don't have to meet them yet if you don't want to but I thought it would be nice- "

" No, I'll meet them. You met my parents. It's only fair that I meet yours. " she said. 

" Thanks, but if you want the approval to date me, you have to make sure Kevin approves, not my parents. " I said. 

" Who's Kevin? " she asked. 

" My dog. He's my life. He seems to know what's best for me. If he growls, it's a no but if he licks your face, it's a yes. " I said chuckling.

" I'll make sure to stay on Kevin's good side then. " Mackenzie said, chuckling.
