Pretending I hardly know her

Colby's POV:

My heart officially broke when she asked who I was. How could she not remember me? 

" Colby, can I talk to you for a second? " asked Cathy. 

" I......I guess. " I said, trying not to break down in tears. 

We walked out of the room and Cathy closed the door so Mackenzie couldn't hear us.

" So Colby, the doctor said that she was hit on the head many times. It caused her brain to get effected somehow.  She's now got amnesia which is only temporary. He said that naturally her memory will come back but we can't pressure her into anything or she may permanently damage her brain. She wouldn't remember anything about you or anything else. I only told her that I'm her mom and that she works in WWE. We aren't allowed to say anything else to her. "  she said. 

I just stood there taking everything in. I can't believe that this happened.

" Because I haven't told her anything else, Colby, I'm afraid you can't let her know that you're her boyfriend. When you see her at work, you'll just be seen as someone she works with or even luckier, her friend. " she said. 

I have to pretend that I'm her friend. I can't do that. I love her too much. But if it means that she will get better than I'm willing to do that. I'm willing to do anything to help her.

2 weeks later........

Colby's POV:

I was walking to Stephanie's office to talk about the story line with the Shield when I saw Mackenzie. She was walking the opposite direction to me so she was walking towards me. My heart started pounding as we got closer. 

" Hi Colby. " she said as she passed me. 

I tried to stop my eyes from tearing up. 

" H....hi. " I said, trying to get my words out. 

I don't know how much more I can take. 

Mackenzie's POV:

I walked past Colby as I was on my way to see my mom who was waiting for me in my locker room. As I saw him, he looked really upset. He looked like he was about to cry. I don't know why but I feel like something must have happened between him and I before I lost my memory. What is it though?
