Chapter 11: Eleven

Lucas

"EL! EL! It's me! It's Mike!" Mike screamed, tears were streaming down his face. "Mike." The familiar voice of El echoed out from the tree. He began frantically clawing at the tree trying to keep the gate open. Dustin and Will rushed over and knelt beside Mike whilst Hop watched on in shock. I held Eve who was weak and in pain in my arms and watched on with wide eyes. The gate was about to close when it suddenly began to open again, "How is it opening." I whispered to myself and looked down, blood pouring from Eve's nose and ears, as she reached out and touched the tree.
"Eve no!" I shouted, "Yes." A whisper is all she could muster, she smiled weakly.
Mike turned to Eve and saw her in immense pain, he was torn.
The girl he loves was on the other side of the gate but to get her out...
He looked frantically from Eve to the tree, the gate was getting bigger, big enough for a small person to fit through.
Eve was deathly pale, blood was all over her and I she couldn't hold on much longer. "Mike, see if you can get her out right now." I told him and he nodded with a determined look. "El! Take my hand!" He pushed his hand through the pulsing slime, Eve groaned in pain. "I've got her!" He shouted and he began to pull, Dustin and Will grabbed onto his arms and helped him pull.
Eve screamed in pain and blacked out, the gate began to close, "Shit!" Dustin shouted and they pulled with all their might.
Suddenly the boys fell backwards and El, still clutching Mikes hand fell into his arms. "It's ok El I've got you!" Mike held her tightly, tears were in all of our eyes. She's back! She's really back!

Mike

It was worth it. The crying, the searching, the pain. It was all worth it! I've got her! Finally. I could feel her heart beating rapidly against my chest, "El it's ok now. I'm here, we are all here." She looked up at me and smiled, then buried her face in my chest.
We all sat there for about ten minutes before someone spoke. "Guys we need to get Eve to a hospital or something." It was Lucas, he sounded really worried. "We can't risk taking her to a hospital, we wouldn't be able to explain her state." Hopper replied.
El looked up at me again, this time with confusion in her eyes. She then looked around at the Dustin and Will, then to Lucas and Eve. Her eyes widened as she rushed over to them. "Eve?" She asked panicked and Lucas nodded. She turned backed to me frantically after seeing the state Eve was in.
"Come on. We will take her back to Mike's house." Hop ordered and we got up, El's hand in mine and walked to the car. Lucas, covered in Eve's blood carried her and sat in the front holding her in his arms. Hop sped back to my place and everyone went into action mode. Dustin made food for El, Nancy was home so she and Lucas cleaned up Eve and Hop called a home visit doctor. El knelt on the floor beside her sister who was laying on the couch. I sat beside her with my arm around her, trying to comfort her. Eve began to stir and Lucas made sure she drank some water. El squeezed Eve's hand who looked over at her and smiled weakly. She had her sister back and I had... well the girl I love back.
The doctor arrived and he gave Eve and El a check up. Hop made sure he wouldn't tell anyone about the girls. He was confused but he agreed.
"Do you go to the middle school here?" The doctor asked Dustin, "Yeah." He replied simply. "My daughter Max starts there on Monday, I think she would be in your grade." He said smiling before packing up his equipment and heading for the door.
I felt extremely guilty for putting Eve through all that pain. "I'm really sorry Eve." I told her and she smiled at me, "It was worth it." She replied.
