Mike

How do we even prepare for something like this? We weren't prepared last time at all and this time, this time it's going to be worse.I can't let El sacrifice herself like she did last time, I can't lose her again. Somehow and someway we have to be ready.
"So," I began looking around the room at my friends, "What's the plan?"
"We need to study the handbook and see what we are up against." Lucas said with a determined look in his eyes, the same look he had when he was going to look for the gate last year.
"How are we going to do that when we don't have the entire book, look there are more pages missing!" Dustin replied panicked.
"I'll go home and get my copy?" Max suggested, rising from the couch. "Yeah good idea." I confirmed. It was weird that Max had just come into this whole world of ours and was totally willing to help us, she didn't question El or Eve, she's pretty cool.
"Where is Nancy?" Jonathan asked me quietly. "Probably up stairs making breakfast."
"Does she know about, all this?" He said gesturing to the group ok kids furiously rushing around the room trying to find things that would help in the battle.
"Not exactly but you are welcome to tell her." I smirked, he raised his eyebrows at me, and shook his head, trying to hide a smile.
"Mike!" The voice of my mom immediately silenced everyone in the room, their eyes growing wide in fear that she would open the basement door.
"Yes!" I yelled back, and in typical mom form there was no reply. Suddenly the door began to creak open, everyone was panicking, I waved my hand like crazy gesturing for them all to go out the back door. They all bolted and hid behind the door.
Just as the back door closed my mom made it to the basement. "What was all that noise? And are you planning on going to school today?" She asked sternly, putting her hands on her hips. "Um... the wind blew the door shut." I stuttered, she raised an eyebrow and walked toward it. "Was someone else here?" I covered my eyes and waited for her to find all of them just outside the door, when the front doorbell rang.
She had opened the door, but her attention was diverted and didn't see six people standing outside, frozen in place out of sheer panic.
She narrowed her eyes at me, "Go to school." She growled then walked up the stairs.
I listened to the front door open, "Oh hi Joyce!" My mother greeted.
"What's my mom doing here?" I heard Jonathan murmur as he cautiously walked back in the door followed by the others. "Be quiet and we might be able to hear." Lucas whisper-shouted and everyone was silenced.
We all crowded around the bottom of the stairs, straining our ears, hoping to hear some news about Will.
"How's Will doing, I heard he fainted the other day, did you end up seeing someone?" My mother asked, "Yeah I picked him up and went to take him to the doctors and when I got there, there was a note stuck on the door saying that they had moved. So I took him to the new place and it was..." Joyce paused for a moment, we all leaned in, "Their new location was the old lab, which is where Will is now, they are running some tests on him."
"What the he-" Dustin began before Lucas covered his mouth and shushed him. We all looked at each other, this cannot be good, at all.
"That's strange, I went to the doctors yesterday to pick up a prescription for Ted and it was still in the same place."
Everyone's jaw dropped, I signalled for us to head out the back door so we could talk. After we had all filed out we just stood there in shock, apart from Max who was just confused.
"What just happened?" She stood with her arms folded and eyebrows furrowed, "The lab was where El and Eve were, it's where the gate was, it's where everything that can go wrong will go wrong!" Dustin shouted, panicking.
"But why would there be a note on the door and stuff, my dad works there, he would have said something." She asked with her eyes full of confusion.
"I think we need to talk to the Chief, he has been in there before. He can help us get Will back." Jonathan stated heading for his car, he looked back to see all of us still standing in the same place. "What about school?" Lucas asked, "When has school ever stopped us before?" I said before taking El's hand and walking to the car, I looked back to see the others glance at each other before following.
Everyone squeezed in the car and Jonathan sped off to find Chief Hopper.
