Chapter 8: Goodnight

After Nancy went back upstairs to get Eve some pyjamas we were left with sorting out sleeping arrangements. The boys knew El's fort was off limits so that wasn't even discussed. "Ok I'll bring my mattress down and somebody can sleep on that, I think we have a sleeping bag somewhere." I said opening all the cupboards, "Here it is!" I shouted as I pulled it from the top shelf, knocking a bunch of other stuff down on top of me, including the shirt El was wearing when we found her. My eyes stung as I folded the shirt and placed it neatly in her fort, then I threw the sleeping bag at Dustin. "Lucas, pull that lever on the side, then reach under and grab the legs. Come on Dustin, help him out!" I instructed as they struggled to work out the pull out sofa bed.
I noticed Eve walking around looking at all my posters and trophies, she then walked over to the table where we had left our previous game of Dungeons and Dragons set up. She picked up the wizard and examined him closely before she picked up that dreaded demogorgan piece. I wasn't the only one who noticed, the boys had stopped what they were doing and were watching her. We were all startled when Nancy started talking, none of us had heard her come downstairs. "Hey Eve I got you some pyjamas." Eve jumped a little and nearly dropped the piece. "Jesus Nancy, you scared the crap out of us!" Dustin said clutching his chest. She smirked "Sorry." She said sarcastically then smiled at Eve as she handed her the pyjamas. "Goodnight." Nancy said as she turned and headed for the stairs. Eve smiled, "Goodnight Nancy." She spoke sweetly before walking over to the bathroom to get changed.
"Ok I'll sleep on the floor, Eve can take the mattress and you two can suck it up and sleep on the fold out." I said firmly. "You better not kick me Dustin." Lucas told him gruffly, "Sheesh I won't!" Dustin said dramatically before slumping on the bed.
Eve came out of the bathroom in Nancy's pyjamas and I showed her where she will be sleeping.
As Eve got settled in Lucas walked over to her mattress and kneeled beside her. "Are you alright?" He asked with a smile, "Yes thank you." She replied looking him in the eyes and blushing. "Tomorrow we can go see Chief Hopper, he will know what to do." He said to Dustin and I before he got in his in his side of the pull out couch. I made sure I left a lamp on incase Eve was too afraid to sleep in complete darkness. "Goodnight everyone." I said sleepily, "Goodnight." Dustin and Lucas replied but Eve was already asleep.

Will

I managed to keep the slugs down after mom came home from work, thankfully. I didn't feel up to eating so I skipped and went to bed. I couldn't sleep, I was too afraid, but I'm so tired.
Eventually I drifted off...
I'm back in the Mirkwood forest. I look down. No no no no no this can't be happening, not again. I'm in the monsters body.
Suddenly the monsters starts toward a tree, the tree has a crack in it, almost an opening. It's covered in that gross slime that was everywhere in... Oh God no... the upside down! The monster starts to push through to the other side, I try to close my eyes because I can't bear the sight of that place. But I can't. The monster starts walking forwards towards the town, he's heading down Maple Street, Mike's street. The monster stops when Mikes house comes into view. What is happening? It reaches for the doorknob, the sound of a stick snapping distracts it and it turns around in an instant. There's a girl standing across the street staring at the monster with wide and afraid eyes. Is that the girl the boys were telling me about?
Suddenly the monster lurches at her but it's thrown backwards by, by nothing?
She glares at me... no not me, the monster with determined eyes. The monster gets up and bolts for the tree, pushing through only to look back and see it closing.
