I THOUGHT I PUBLISHED THS LIKE AN HOUR AND NOW I GET ON AND I WAS LIKE "does everybody hate this story now?" but it was just me

-

"Are you ever gonna wake up on your own?" Josh asked Devon as he shook her lightly.

"I just wanna die." Devon mumbled.

Josh rolled his eyes and leaned over her. "I know how much you hate my morning breath."

"Stop." Devon told him without any emotion in her voice. Just monotone, no attitude.

That immediately worried Josh.

"Hey," Josh pulled the blanket from her face. "You okay?"

Rather than answering, Devon wrapped her arms around him.

Josh turned on his back, making sure that her chest was covered before he did so. As always, he didn't have her explicit permission. "What happened?"

"I just.." Devon sighed before resting her head in the crook of his neck. "I have no motivation whatsoever."

Josh furrowed his eyebrows at her comment. "Because of your medicine?"

"Lack therefor of."

Her psychiatrist decided to take her off of her medicine. At that point, Devon was experiencing withdrawal and overwhelming sadness due to the loss of it.

"Is there anything I can do?" Josh began stroking her hair.

"No," Devon shook her head. "All You gotta do is be here for me."

"I can do that," Josh replied. "You know I'm not leaving you anytime soon."

Devon nodded, then placed a soft kiss on his cheek.

Josh turned his head to face her. "You good now?"

Devon didn't answer. Instead, she gave him a sweet kiss on his lips.

"We gotta get up." Josh told her.

"No no," Devon whined. "Just a few more minutes?"

"Not too long." Josh said as he hugged her tighter.

"You're not gonna eat?" Josh asked as they walked down the steps of the house.

"No," Devon said quietly. "We're not hungry right now."

On the drive to school, Devon brought up a topic the pair had both been avoiding.

"I have to tell the school." She blurted out.

"What?" Josh glanced over at her, then back at the road.

"I have to tell them," Devon repeated. "If I don't, one of those other teachers will."

"What are you gonna say?"

"I'll just tell them that I'm pregnant," Devon shrugged. "They don't need to know anymore."
