I put lashes on the other night and I've never felt more confident.

but here's a longish chapter for you guys.

--

"Dev!" Josh yelled from bed. He was ready to go to sleep, but Devon decided at the last minute that she wanted a shower. It was peeving him because he wanted to fall asleep next to his girlfriend like he did most nights.

He heard the shower turn off, which caused him to let out a sigh of relief. His eyes were already drooping closed, but it did not feel the same since she was not next to him.

"You're so needy." Devon walked back into their room, her towel slightly riding up in the front due to her growing belly.

"I missed you." Josh whined.

"I was gone for ten minutes." Devon replied as she dried off and slipped on one of Josh's t-shirts.

"Women are weird," Josh said. "Why do you do that thing?"

"What thing?"

"The towel thing," Josh pointed at her. "On top of your head. Why? Is it for decoration? Does it strengthen your neck?"

"No," Devon said. "It dries the hair."

"In a ball?" Josh asked. "Doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of washing your hair? If you have it up like that, it'll smell weird."

"Shh." Devon calmed him with a small smile as she crawled into bed next to him after removing her hair towel, then gave him a sweet kiss.

"How do you do that?" Josh asked with a tilt of his head.

"What?"

"You are the only person who can actually shut me up." Josh explained.

Devon simply grinned at him rather than answering.

"Are you okay?" Josh gave her a puzzled look.

"I'm fine," Devon replied. "Why?"

"You're just so.. happy." Josh pointed out. "It's a rare occurrence."

"I can't be happy?" Devon smiled turned, well, upside.

"That's not what I meant." Josh shook his head.

"It's just the hormones." Devon said.

"You are the only person who would blame hormones for overall happiness." Josh said.

"I'm just protecting my reputation."

"Speaking of your reputation," Josh started. "I have a surprise for you."

"Ugh," Devon groaned. "You know I hate surprises."

"It's a good one," Josh said. "I promise."

"No surprise is good." Devon denied.

"I organized an art show for you." Josh revealed. It was not the smartest thing to do, but he did not want to show her when it was to actually happen. She would get so overwhelmed and she would want to kiss Josh, and all of the staff was scheduled to show up to it, and Devon would not be able to get her job back if she did that.

"You what?" Devon was in disbelief.

"I took some of the artwork that you saved from the students and some that you did, and I organized an art show." Josh repeated. "We're gonna auction off work to raise money to rebuild the art room."

"Josh.."

"Is it a good surprise?" Josh asked.

"J," Devon cooed. "It's perfect. When is it?"
