Christine woke to someone shaking her awake.
“Come on Christine wake up!” Said Meg
“Wwwhhhaaatt.” Christine said slightly irritated “What time is it?”
“Eight o’clock in the morning.” Her friend replied.
“Why so early?” She asked
“Don’t you remember?” Christine shook her head. “We planned our shopping day and to go see a movie later this evening.” Meg replied.
“Oh yeah!” Christine spoke as she sat up surprisingly fast.
“Come on let’s get ready!” The girls hurried and got ready for their shopping trip. They had tons of money saved up for this day (More like Christine did than Meg). They both said goodbye to Christine’s parents and were off for a day at the mall.
The girls spent the first half of the day looking at shoes and accessories. By the time it was lunch they each had two bags full. “I don’t know if I can carry any more.” Meg said lazily.
“I know me to. Let just get something to eat. That should reenergize us.” Christine replied
“Ok which food court do you want to go to?”
“How about ‘Soup and Salad’?”
“Ok, let’s go.” After they ate, they talked and drank their waters. And then Meg said suddenly and excitedly.
“Oh, look whose coming over!?” Christine whipped around to see who it was. Jake and Raoul were walking to their table.
“Hello ladies! What’s up?” Jake asked all cool like.
“Hey, were just taking a break from shopping. And you?” Meg replied and asked.
“Where just here to check out the sports center. My brother’s birthday is coming up and I thought I could surprise him with a new football.” Raoul replied
“I’m just here to get a new basketball. My old one is deflated too much I can’t get any air in it anymore.” Said Jake.
“That’s so sweet. And I’m sorry about your basketball.” Christine said to Raoul then to Jake.
“That’s ok, so what are you two ladies doing tonight?” Jake asked them. Meg suddenly froze, as if she knew what he was about to ask her. Christine noticed and answered fast.
“Where just going to the movies.”
“What movie are you guys seeing?” Raoul asked
“Catching Fire.”
“Coolio, I haven’t even seen that one yet.” Jake replied. Meg suddenly found her voice and asked.
“Do you guys want to come with us?”
“Yeah, awesome!” Jake answered
“Do you want us to pick ya’ll up at say around…um…what time does the movie start?” Raoul asked while looking at Christine.
“At seven thirty.” Christine replied.
“So around seven then?” Jake asked
“Sounds great!” Meg answered excitedly. “Ya’ll can pick us up from Christine’s house.”
“Ok see ya’ll then.” With that the guys left and both of the girls (as soon as the boys were out of earshot) whispered squealed.
“Come on lets go buy a new outfit for tonight!” Meg excitedly said. Christine agreed and both spent the next three hours trying on and buying new outfits.
By six fifty both girls where ready and waiting in the living room for the boys to come. Christine already told her parents about it; and they were in their bedroom watching tv and making sure they don’t “embarrass” Them. By then seven came and the boys were at the front door. They greeted each other and the boys both commented on how pretty they looked. Then they went in Jakes truck (Christine texted her parents and said that they were leaving) and left. While they went to the concession stand, both Jake and Raoul spent their money for their dates and themselves (Jake and Meg, Raoul and Christine.). During the movie Raoul (who was sitting next to Christine) pretended to ‘stretch’ and put his arm around her. Christine didn’t mind though and she, in return, put her head on his shoulder. While this was happening, Meg and Jake’s hands both went into the popcorn bowl they were sharing and touched one another. They then both (while holding hands) took their hands out of the popcorn bowl and set it in the armrest between the seats. Both ‘couples’ where happy and never left that position the entire movie.
On the drive back home they talked about their favorite parts of the movie and how they couldn’t wait for ‘Mocking Jay’ to come out. When they got back to Christine’s house, they led the girls to the doorway. When they were saying goodbye (and right before they left) Raoul and Jake took Meg and Christine’s hands and kissed it softly. Then they left without a word, but smiling. Meg and Christine were in shock but smiled back. When they got inside, they both whispered scream in excitement(knowing probably Christine’s parents where both asleep)!
“Did they-“Christine started but couldn’t finish.
“I can’t believe it-“Meg was doing the exact same thing.
“Me too!” both girls said and quietly (as they could) laughing and screaming in excitement. They both got ready for bed and fell asleep.
The next day was Sunday so the girls, a little tired, got up and got ready for church. While in the car Christine’s parents asked how everything went the previous night.
“Oh it was great!” Meg and Christine replied together. Then they looked at each other, smiled knowingly, and then they laughed and laughed. Olivia and Greg took that as a means that everything went well for them and moved on from that.
After morning services where over, they went back to Christine’s house and Meg got her stuff.
“I’ll see you in a couple of days.” Meg said.
“Ok text me a lot before then.” Christine replied.
“Is there ever any doubt I would?” Meg said sarcastically. With that they said their goodbyes and Meg left.
