Samantha's POV
She's really gone. She's gone and not coming back. You need to move on Sam. She's really gone and won't be coming back.
There's a knock on my bedroom door but I roll over to face the window.
"Sammy I know you're not asleep. Sam-" he is interrupted by a phone ringing.
He answers it and puts it on speaker. "Hello?"
"Hi." I hear through the phone. "Alright what I'm going to say will probably be really hard to hear. I'm not trying to sound like a creepy stalker, but I do know who you are. You can't go to the police about this. It will end really ugly if you do. Can you promise me, not to go to the police?" Who the hell is this? What can't we go to the police about? I roll over and see Adam sitting on my beanbag. The phone is on his lap and he looks dumbfounded.
"Um alright," he finally says. "What are you talking about?"
"Courtney's alive." Great! Another stupid sick joke!
"I'm sorry. If this is some kind of sick joke, it's not funny. I know she's dead. I was just able to except this, I don't need you to reopen closed wounds." He replies, his voice breaking.
"No seriously Adam. She's still alive. There was a reason why there was no body. But she is going to be dead if you don't help me." How does he know his name? And what does he mean by the last sentence?
"What?"
"I know Megan has leukaemia. Has your parents or any other relative have had any other form of cancer?" Who is this creepy stalker? He knows Megan has leukaemia?
"Mum had breast cancer." Mum had breast cancer? What? Why didn't I know that. "But please don't tell Courtney that. She was battling it by herself." But now I know. And how did Adam know if she was battling it by herself. "And our aunt had leukaemia as well. She died of it." Our aunt actually had leukaemia? She died of leukaemia? "Courtney doesn't know any of this and I want to keep it that way." But he let's me know! "Please don't tell her, if she is still alive." But she's probably not even alive.
"Alright I promise. But promise me, you won't go to the police. Courtney is safer if the world thinks she's dead." But we know she's dead. No one could survive the injuries in the photo.
"Wait who are you? I'm sure I've heard your voice before." Adam has heard his voice before? He knows who this is?
"You don't remember me? Football team buddy?" This is one of Adam's football teammates?
"Oh my God, Alex? No way! My sister's actual alive? But why the hell did you kidnap her? Out of all the people in the world, you kidnap her?" It's Alex!? Alex was an amazing friend. But why would he kidnap her?
"I didn't kidnap her. Saladin's still in messy business, so it's safer if the world think she's dead. Trust me on this, she's fine." Who the hell is Saladin? And what does he mean by 'it's safer if the world thinks she's dead?'
"Oh my God, I just can't believe she's alive. I trust you. Just keep my sister safe. Keep her alive. Can I visit her?"
Tears of joy slowly fall down my face. She's actually alive.
"I'll see what I can do. How's Samantha coping with this?" Glad to know he stills remembers me.
"Well let's just say the phone is on speaker. She's over the moon." 'Over the moon?' I suppose that's one of describing how I feel.
