Alessandro's POV

I look around Courtney's hospital room again. Saladin was leaning against the wall, staring off into space and Uncle Roderigo was slumped against the wall.

The same English speaking nurse walks into the room and starts to check Courtney over.

"Excuse me," Saladin starts. "Do you know why she's in a coma?"

The nurse looks at him and nods. "Lack of oxygen to the brain. But we aren't sure why there was lack of oxygen."

Saladin nods and looks back at the ground. The nurse turns back to Courtney and continues checking over her. She suddenly presses the emergency button and two doctors rush in.

"She's out of the coma," she explains as the doctor's look over her. "She's just asleep."

I hear sighs of relief through the room. Finally! She's awake and she's going to get through this.

The doctors leave, telling us to let her sleep. I lean onto the wall and start to doze off.

I get woken up by the sound of crying. I look up to see everyone else asleep and Courtney sitting up, crying her heart out. I get up and make my way over to her.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I ask, squeezing her hand. "It's going to be alright."

She looks up at me and tries to flash a smile. "Lie back down," I say and I gently get her to lie back down. I sit down in the empty seat next to her bed and continue to hold her hand.

"Who's that?" She whispers, pointing to Uncle Roderigo.

"My uncle," I reply. "He's also Saladin's boss."

She nods and squeezes my hand harder. "I know who he is, I mean what is he doing here and why does everyone call your uncle, boss?"

"He wanted to make sure you were ok and getting the correct medical treatment. He's one of the worlds most feared men and gets what we wants when he wants. He gets call boss because his real name is hard to pronounce and means boss in Spanish."

She nods again and leans back into the pillow. "What is his name?"

"Roderigo."

She nods again and slowly closes her eyes again. I squeeze her hand as she falls asleep again.

I look up as the English speaking nurse comes into the room. "It's believed she had a serve asthma attack, that lead to lack of oxygen, that made her slip into the coma. We'll give you some medication to bring home with her and she can be discharged when she wakes."

I simply nod and squeeze Courtney's hand again.

The nurse leaves with Saladin and I wake up Uncle Roderigo. I tap him on the shoulder and he immediately wakes up.

"What!?"

"Calm down. I'm just telling you Courtney's good to go home. She had a serve asthma attack that cut of oxygen to the brain."

"Alright." He looks down at his watch and whistles. "I have to go pick someone up from the airport. I'll see you back home."

I nod and walk back over to Courtney. I grab her hand and she wakes up.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake up," I mumble.

"It's fine, I think I've had enough sleep. Do you know when I can get out of here?"

"As soon as Saladin walks in with your discharge papers."

She smiles and nods again. "And Luca and I have cooked up a surprise for you, that's coming in a few hours."

She leans forward and stares at me. "What?"

"I can't tell you. Then it wouldn't be a surprise."

She sighs and leans forward even more. "I um- eh I- I need to go to the toilet." She mumbles.

"Alright," I reply and help her off the bed. I help her to the bathroom and wait outside the door. She comes back out looking more alive and smiles a little.

Saladin finally comes back with Courtney's discharge paper and her belongings. We get Courtney out of the hospital and Saladin helps her into the back seat.

I slip into the driver's seat and start the engine. Home, finally. How much longer till Courtney's surprise comes?

We finally arrive back home and Saladin helps Courtney back into his room.

I walk into the kitchen to be immediately greeted by Lorenzo. "What happened?" He questions.

"Courtney had a serve asthma attack," I reply, trying to keep it simple.

"Is she really Saladin's girlfriend?"

"No, she's got to do with Uncle Roderigo's business. But trust me, it's better if the world thinks she's dead."

Lorenzo nods and fiddles with his ring. "Can you give me some female advice?" He asks suddenly.

"I don't know. You're the married one, not me."

"Exactly. Our wedding anniversary is coming up. I have no idea what to do."

"Well what has Adela always wanted to do?"

"I have no idea!" Lorenzo exclaims.

"Tsk tsk! You've been married for nearly a year and have no clue what she likes! Wow your husband goals," I tease.

"Oi! I know what she likes but I we've already done it. I want something new and adventurous."

"Take her overseas. I don't know, go backpacking in Australia. Go travel the beaches in Hawaii."

"I like the idea of taking her overseas. That has potential but I don't know where?"

"You've got less than two weeks to come up with something. I'm sure you'll manage."

"Yeah," he sighs. "I'll think of something."

"Hey Alessandro, where did you go?" Cadenza asks, entering the room.

"I was at the hospital."

"Why? Who was at the hospital?"

"Saladin's girlfriend."

"Oh! How old is she? She doesn't look any older then me."

"You'll have to ask Saladin that, I wouldn't have a clue."

Cadenza nods slowly and walks towards the fridge. "Are they really boyfriend and girlfriend?" She asks suddenly. "I don't think they have much chemistry. And Saladin's choice in girls has certainly changed a lot."

"People change, sorella minore, people change." Lorenzo mutters. (Translation: younger sister)

I nod in response. "People really do chan-" I begin but get interrupted by the sound of yelling and a sickening thud.

I was originally not planning on leaving you on a cliffhanger but you know, I'm just too evil.

What happened? Why was their yelling? What was the thud?
