Ashton's POV
"Shit, shit, shit!" I hear Spencer yell. "We're losing her!"
I hit the blanket and it drops down. I look over at Courtney. Her eyes were closed and Spencer was gently tapping her face. I look back at her leg and then back at her face.
"There's no reason we should be losing her." I yell. "Unless she's got another injury. Pass me the scissors!"
Someone hands me the scissors and I set to work cutting off her the remained of her shorts. I couldn't see any other injuries, just bruises. And more bruises. Lots of bruises. What the hell happened to her? As I look at her back, and see even more bruises, everything fell into place. I start to laugh.
"How the fuck is this so funny, Ashton!" Yells an annoyed Spencer.
"What happy pills are you on!? I need some!" Luca mumbles. I look over at him and he looks so stressed.
I look over at Boss and he was chewing his fingernails. I look at Hunter and Callum sitting in the shade looking stressed. I look at the other men, standing around. I think of everyone back at the house, knowing their only lead was shot and could possibly be dead soon.
"You know why she's not responding?" I ask, smothering my laughs with my hand.
"No. We don't. That's why we're sitting here, stressed as fuck!" Spencer snaps at me.
"She fainted. And my guess is because of dehydration. Chuck me a drink bottle!"
I grab the drink bottle and slowly pour some water on Courtney's face. She wakes up with a start. I hold her mouth open and pour a bit more water in.
I look around to see everyone looking at Courtney and I, astonished. "All good guys!"
I turn back to Courtney. Tears were still flowing down her cheeks. "Callum, go bring the car around!" I watch as he grabs the keys and starts running to go get the car.
"Courtney, you're going to have to have these tablets." I show her the three tablets she needs to take. She nods but doesn't say anything.
With the help of Spencer, I get her sitting up and taking the tablets. "Do you like needles?" I ask her.
"What type of question is that!?" Spencer asks shocked. "Who likes needles?"
I look at Courtney to see her shaking her head. I lie her back down and get Spencer to make small talk with her.
I grab the needle and jab it in her thigh. I hear a groan but that was it. I stand up and grab my medical kit. I didn't do a bad job. And I'm quite impressed. She's quite the escape artist.
I hear the car coming and I sigh. This is going to be the hard part. I pull the handcuffs out from the side pocket of my bag. We have to lift her into the car. I'll get Spencer to do it. I look over to see Courtney and Spencer talking like they knew each other for years. Well Spencer was doing most of the talking.
As I saw Callum approach in the car, I walk over to Courtney. I take a deep breathe and sigh.
"Courtney, can I have your hands?" I ask casually.
She looks up at me in shock and then sees the handcuffs. She put her hands together in front of her and I fasten the cuffs around her. I see boss on the phone. He gives me a nod and I know they were ready. I return the nod and turn to face Spencer. He had already been watching me and was getting up.
He gently picks up Courtney, bridal style and I support her leg as we make our way to the car. We carefully got Courtney in there and Spencer slips in beside her. Callum still had the engine running and I get in the passenger seat.
"They're all ready at the house." I tell Callum. He just nods and starts accelerating.
"How did you find me?" I hear Courtney whisper.
I hear Spencer chuckle. "All the blood. I must say Ashton, you have great aim."
"You, you shot me!?" Courtney weakly asks.
"Yeah." I shrug. "It wasn't suppose to hit you though. It was more of a warning shot, to get you to stop. But how's the pain?"
"Not bad." She replies softly.
"I must say you're quite the escape artist." I chuckle. "I'm very impressed."
"Was it really good?" Spencer asks.
"Yeah, I didn't see it but the dash cam on the car got it." I reply.
"I'll gonna go look at the footage after this meeting." Spencer says.
"Er, can I have some other clothes?" Courtney mutters.
I turn around and remember she was still in her underwear. I could take her down to Alex's room really quick before the meeting.
"Hey Callum, warn Boss, Spencer and I will be a little late. We're taking Courtney to Alex's room."
"Sure." Was all he replies.
The car pulled up near the house and I get out. I open the door and pick Courtney up while Spencer grabs my bag.
I carry Courtney up a few flights of stairs to Alex's room. Her death, last week really had affected everyone. No one was game enough to go into her room. Well apart from when we needed females clothes, which was practically never. I gently put Courtney on Alex's bed and walk over to her cupboard. I pull out a white long sleeve top. I swear Alex had a never ending pile of these. I threw it over to Courtney. Should I give her jeans or shorts? Jeans? Shorts? I chuck a pair of shorts at her. Shorts would go over her bullet wound, easily. I walk back over to her and saw her underwear were covered in blood. I walked to a chest of drawers near the bed and grab her some clean underwear. I chuck them over to the bed as well.
"You really need to change your underwear." I tell her. "No offence but it's soaked with your blood from your leg."
She just shrugs at me and tries to avoid eye contact with me.
"Listen, I know this is going to be a bit awkward for you and for me, but I'm going to have to help you get dressed."
She didn't reply, just shrugs. I lean over and unfasten the handcuffs. I get Spencer to grab me a bucket of water, a facecloth and a towel. I unclip her bra and wash her chest before drying her and putting the clean clothes on her. Her hair was a mess so I grab Alex's hairbrush and quickly brush it. I won't be able to tie it up though. Doesn't really matter. She can have it down. I don't bother putting the handcuffs back on her. I just pick her up and walk out of Alex's room.
I carry Courtney down the steps to Boss' office. I walk down the staircase, where I found her with Luca and I could tell she tenses up. How could she fall down these stairs? Was she trying to get away? Is she even who we think she is? Will our plan work? Hopefully it will.
I get to the door and it was fully shut. I call out for Spencer to open it. He takes his time but eventually comes over and holds it open, as I walked in with Courtney.
As I walk in everyone in the room went quite. I could tell Courtney tenses up again at all these people. Spencer grabs a chair and I put her down on it. I grab another chair and a cushion for her leg to rest on. I see her keep looking around the room. Maybe she isn't who we think she is?
