Courtney's POV

More tears of happiness fall down my cheeks. Is this the end?

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Andre mutters.

The sirens keep coming closer and the back window get lit up with the red and blue lights.

"Alright Courtney. Your name is Rachel Parker. You're just coming back from a party with your boyfriend. If you don't play along with this, that police officer will be dead in two seconds and I promise to make your life a living hellhole!"

I just nod but I had no intention of playing along. Police officers have guns and backup.

Slowly Andre pulls off the road, still swearing under his breath. A smile slowly comes over my face, that I couldn't hide. I'm getting out of this mess! I can see my siblings!

But something unexpected happens. The police car speed past us. I hear Andre let out a sigh of relief. He carefully pulls back onto the road and we continued our journey in silence.

All my hopes have come crashing down on me. No one is coming for me. I'm going to be stuck here forever! Tears slowly fall down my cheeks.

Finally Andre stops the car and gets out. I follow him into a block of apartments and into the elevator. We stop on the tenth floor and walk into the first door on the right. His apartment was quite big. He had an open-plan lounge room, dinning room and a kitchen, off to the side. There was a hallway opposite the kitchen, on the far side.

"Alright. There is two other guys that live here. The bathroom is the third door on the left, down the hallway."

I just nod and sit down on the couch. Why am I in this mess? Why can't my life be somewhat normal?

I hear footsteps around the house but I just ignore them. I lie back into the couch and close my eyes.

I obviously had fallen asleep because when I woke up, it was pitch black outside. I hear footsteps down the hallway and a light turn off. This is my chance. I can get out of this mess! I can escape.

I quietly get up from the couch and tiptoe to the front door. I unlock it and carefully swing it open. I was about to walk out the door when I hear someone cough.

"Going somewhere?" someone says. I didn't bother turning around, to see who it was. I just run.

I run out the door and decide on taking the stairs. I run down the stairs, taking two at a time. I run outside and past all the parked cars. Why can't I hear anyone chasing me? That's really weird. Is anyone chasing me? I push those thoughts aside and keep running. I have to get out of here. I have to get out of here. I have to get out of here.

How long have I been running for? Why haven't I seen anyone? I see a main road coming up. I can get out of here. I can go home. I can flag down a car. I keep running towards the road but a voice brings me to a dead stop.

"What's a pretty lady like you doing out here, by yourself?"

I gulp. Should I ask for help? Should I ask for a phone? Should I keep running?

"Do you have a phone I could use?" I pant.

"I do have a phone but I'm not sure if you can use it."

"Please, I really need to call someone." I beg.

"Talking to strangers is quite dangerous, Courtney," another voice says. He was the one that tried to stop me at the door. What do I?
