Courtney's POV
I wake up with a start as the bed sinks.
"Courtney, I know you're awake," Spencer mutters.
I lie perfectly still, hoping he'll leave me alone.
"Courtney, Alessandro is onto me. You're going to have to go back to boss. It's too dangerous having you here. I am really sorry."
Dangerous! Bullshit! Just because isn't dumb doesn't mean it's dangerous! Their is no way I'm leaving here. The only reason why I'll leave is when I get back home.
"Courtney! I know your fucking awake! Talk to me."
I still remand still, silently praying he'll give up and leave.
I hear the bedroom slam shut. Did he leave or did someone else come in? "Saladin? Who really is this girl?"
I hold my breath and keep my eyes closed.
"I told you, she's my girlfriend."
"No Saladin, she's not. I'll ask her myself I have to."
"Alessandro. Drop it! She's got to do with my work."
"You're still with Uncle Roderigo? Saladin get out of that business. You have to. It's not safe for you or our family."
"Alessandro, I just can't. You and Lorenzo already dropped out. Besides we're doing this girl a favour. We ha-"
And I start coughing before I could stop myself. My eyes fling open and I sit up, struggling for breathe.
"Courtney? How much of that did you hear?" Spencer asks.
"Forget that, she can't fucking breathe!" Alessandro snaps.
Spencer rushes towards me and starts patting my back. "Deep breathes, Courtney. Deep breathes."
I try taking deep breathes, but it doesn't help. I find it harder and harder to try to take breathes. Slowly my eyes begin to close before I could stop them.
"Merda!" I hear someone shout before darkness takes over me. (Translation: Shit)
Alessandro's POV
After Saladin leaves the lounge room, I head towards the kitchen. There is no way, Courtney is Saladin's girlfriend. There is something not right about this.
I grab a glass of water and lean against the bench. Something is wrong about their relationship and I'm planning on finding out what it is.
As I head towards Saladin's room, I hear him shouting.
"Courtney, I know your fucking awake! Talk to me." That's no way to talk to your girlfriend.
I swing his door and walk in, to see Courtney laying on the bed and Saladin sitting beside her. I slam the door shut and lean against the wall.
"Saladin? Who really is this girl?"
"I told you, she's my girlfriend." Saladin replies, keeping his eyes on Courtney.
"No Saladin, she's not. I'll ask her myself I have to."
"Alessandro. Drop it! She's got to do with my work." He snaps. He's still with Uncle Roderigo? In the mafia? Oh Lord, I thought he dropped out of that ages ago.
"You're still with Uncle Roderigo? Saladin get out of that business. You have to. It's not safe for you or our family."
"Alessandro, I just can't. You and Lorenzo already dropped out. Besides we're doing this girl a favour. We ha-" Saladin stops mid sentence as Courtney starts coughing. She sits up and continues struggling for breathe.
