~~~Esther's POV~~~
Amyra took us to a place I dreaded the most, I feared the most. The place where it all had begun. The same highway.
"Every story ends where it began. Avora is dead. Her dad was killed,yesterday, because The One got killed." Amyra said, breaking the silence, her back facing us.
She turned around and faced us. "Why did I kill Shyera and Irwin? I killed them because I hated her. She was the reason why The One couldn't live forever. And on a second chance, she trusted that bitch of Avora and not me. Irwin? He loved her. A feeling I was sure Drake didn't have for me."
"Let me tell you, Amyra, you killed your own father." I yelled at her.
Amyra made a confused expression.
"They exchanged Esther's fate with your dad, The One, which was to die when Shyera dies." Drake told as calm as he could. Yeah. They had been friends. They were used to that. No regrets.
A large tear escaped Amyra's eye, and then she came out of her trance, and wiped off that tear. Her eyes turned into an unusual kind of expression. Then I saw a spark. On a distance.
From the whole paused world, one human was moving. But Amyra didn't notice it. Yeah! A weapon we could use against her! Her back was facing that person.
He was familiar to me. Yes. My memory was giving me a bit of trouble. But then, a cold breeze started flowing, comforting me. My mind automatically drifted off to the memories I had of him. Then guilt overcame me. I had told Shyera about him. But I had never had the chance of arranging a proper meet for them. I knew I..
"Sayon, I know you're right behind. What the hell happened of Little Amy?"
Amyra knew about him and little Amy?
He stayed silent.
He was muttering something under his breath so skillfully, that anyone could barely understand he was. But knowing him for so many years had told me the way to know.
Anyway, Sayon was all ready to kill her.
"Before I begin your end," she looked up evilly,"I want you to know the whole truth. Avora had known it before she died. Because I had brought her here right before killing her. And when you come here with me, at least pure humans have no chance of going back."
An expression of fear came over Drake's face.
"Why?" asked Tanyra, trying to sound a little brave.
"Because that circle you guys have, doesn't work with pure humans on this one highway. And you guys know the rest of those damn conditions."
The whole mess called our lives had been entangled at this highway. And man, were they a complete disaster.
"After the accident, I was still conscious, and I could see my dad putting a key in whatever it was. I was lying somewhere near a little girl with shoulder length blonde hair, and she looked beautiful. She didn't have much injuries on her face. My dad was lying a bit away from me, and my sister had her eyes closed. She was lying beside my dad, her face full of injuries. We were surrounded by god knows what kind of metal and machine parts. My dad was still conscious, too. He had tried to make my sister get up. But I had already guessed we had lost her."
Water had accumulated near her eyes by then. I wanted to take advantage of the situation, so I tried to move, but Amyra looked at me in a threatening manner.
"Dad got up, pain visible on his face. Visible? No. Screaming. He reached for that object, and my eyes felt too heavy. When I opened my eyes again, I didn't remember a thing. And then they told me everything."
"Everything I needed to know. To make me hate Avora and her bubble."
"Avora was nowhere at fault, Amyra. It was your dad, who never accepted his mistake." The words escaped my mouth before anyone could stop me. And even I knew: saying that when Amyra is in such a situation, this one sentence can be the biggest mistake in one's life.
"Yeah, Esther. Why not? So now you are her silly lawyer? You know the consequences of poking your nose right now. Dravenstors! Here!"
We saw five people come from a distance. Sayon had placed himself exactly behind Amyra, ready to take her life.
"No need to be so cautious, you two. I'm gonna die myself in this process and I know that. But if my task here, as a Dravengo gets accomplished only if I die, I'm ready for that."
For once, her voice felt very sincere and determined.
We stayed silent, trying to figure out some way of escape. This place being the origin of it all, a maximum of four Dravengos could escape with the circle we had. That was the decided limit. And that was the only reason for the bad luck of a group of five. Drake didn't know that fact, so did Tanyra. But Raven, me and Merope knew it already. But wait. Raven and Drake were best buddies, right? Drake might know that as well. And it is but obvious he loves Tany. So she might know as well.
My eyes bulged out at my next thought. Drake and Tany may make a foolish move, even though it was the most clever of them all..Trying to save those possible, instead of finishing it off for once..
This place began it all, and this same highway will end it all. Or so I hope.
****************************
The shortest chapter of them all, but I need your HONEST OPINIONS.
Should I change the name of the book to 'The Highway'???
Thinking about it. What do you guys suggest?
The main reason for that length of chapter is...I am too sleepy right now. And I wanted to give one whole chapter to Esther! But no! I couldn't let it be too long!
That's it, I guess.
