"You do realize that I won't even be able to do this until my punishment is over?" She'd come up with any excuse to get out of Micah's "brilliant" plan.

What he was asking of her was a little more than she bargained for.

"Yeah, It can wait until then. This will be great!" He hopped up from the porch bench they were sitting on.

Eva tried to look as excited as he did. His phone buzzes. He checked it and a smile slowly grew on his face.

"I'll catch you later, 'Kay?" He started to his car.

Eva gave him a lopsided smile and nodded. He climbed into his car and drove off.

"This should be fun." She buried her face in her hands and groaned.

It hurt her a little bit that Micah payed no mind to the fact she mentioned a date. She didn't expect him to be a girl about it, but she wanted someone to talk about it with.

The sound of tires rolling over gravel made her look up. She frowned until she saw George climb out. He smiled and waved.

"Hey, you!" She skipped to the car.

He met her half way. "Hey."

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see how bad you got into trouble."

Eva shrugged. "It's not too bad."

"Look at you thuggin'." He tried to do a "gangster" move to make her laugh. He succeeded.

"I wouldn't say all of that. Just think of me as a nerd gone bad." She tried to sound mysterious.

"I don't know if I should be around that kind of influence."

She laughed, but sobered up when he didn't laugh with her. "Seriously?" she asked, slightly worried.

He finally laughed.

"That's not funny!" She hit his arm.

"I couldn't help myself. Your face was totally worth it."

"Yeah, whatever." She grumbled.

"It was. Just like sneaking over to see you was totally worth it." He tapped her nose.

Her palms started to sweat as she tried to understand his meaning. She had an idea of what he meant, but could it really be the only explanation?

"When can we go out again? I had a lot of fun last night."

Eva blushed. "After a week."

"I don't know if I'll last that long, Evangeline. It's a long time." He pouted.

Eva giggled. "We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?"

"I guess. I should be going before I get you into more trouble. See you tomorrow?" He kissed her cheek.

Eva turned red at the moment and touched her cheek. "Uh, yeah."

He smiled before climbing into his car. "Try to behave." He winked before driving off.

"Yeah." She breathed.

He kissed her cheek. That was like only mere inches of her lips. That's the closest kiss she's ever gotten. Feeling like a zombie, she went back into her house. Eva never would've imagined two boys pulling her emotions in totally opposite directions in just one day and the day had just begun! She sat down on the couch and wondered what will this upcoming week will bring?

"HEY, YOU." GEORGE walked up to her car.

She smiled. "Hey."

She'd been driving to school for the past few weeks since Micah hadn't made any notions he was going to. She hadn't even stop by his house or made any calls to see if he was waiting for her to pick him up. Some reason, it gave her a small victory. She was trying to prove to herself that she could survive without him. After how things turned out at the movies, she'd been really thinking.
