Callie woke up early and went into her parent's room. She was dying for another look at her mother's precious diary. The moment she walked in, Stevie knew she was there. She smiled to herself as she stepped out of the shower. She left the water on, knowing Callie would use this opportunity to turn the room upside down. Stevie peeked out from the bathroom and watched her daughter tip toeing around. She checked under the pillows, in the nightstand, on the floor, and on the desk. Callie put her hands on her hips and looked around thinking of another place it may be. Stevie snuck up behind the girl and stood perfectly still in her silk robe.
"You aren't going to find it" Stevie whispered and the blue eyed brunette shrieked, causing Stevie to fall into a fit of giggles.
"Mom! You scared the hell out of me!"
"Watch your language, missy. Besides, didn't we just have a talk?"
"Yes but--"
"No buts, little one. I asked you not to read it and you're still looking for it. What did I say?"
"I'll lose my privileges if I read it again." Stevie opens her mouth to speak. " But I haven't read it yet" Callie tells her with a mischievous grin.
"Your father would be so proud" Stevie says, giggling once more.
"I bet he would." She says, smirking. "Mom, I know something's up."
"Oh?" Stevie asks, composing herself.
"You're taking vitamins, everyday. You haven't forgotten once."
"And?"
"That's a little weird."
"I will be traveling for work soon and I don't want to take a chance in getting sick."
"You're afraid to get sick? Hm...that's interesting"
"I don't like getting sick. No one does. Can't you keep your little button nose out of my business? Everyone will know about my little project soon enough"
"Is it art related?"
"Possibly. It's quite the little masterpiece if I do say so myself" Callie looks her mother up and down, walking around her in slow circles. She doesn't see anything physically different. "Yes?"
"Just checking"
"Calliope Emmeline, don't you have anything better to do? Maybe a text to return or homework to finish before class..."
"Nope" she says, smiling.
"Good grief!" Stevie says dramatically, all the while having a smile on her face. She pulls her daughter into her, wrapping her arms around her. "Please don't keep sneaking around. I'm much too tired to keep up with you" she whispers.
"Just tell me then, mommy."
"How do I know you won't go telling everyone in the world, if I do?"
"I'm a vault, you can trust me." Callie says and Stevie looks at her, biting her lip. It is true, Callie is the best secret keeper in the world. They have such a special bond and she would love to share her secret with Callie but to tell her before Lindsey? She thinks it over for another long moment and she can tell Callie really wants to know.
Never was the kind to think about dressing in white
Wasn't waiting on a prince to come riding into my life
Thought I was happy on my own
'Til you came and proved me wrongI finally found what I never knew I always wanted
I couldn't see, I was blind 'til my eyes were opened
I didn't know there was a hole
Something missing in my soul
'Til you filled it up with your love
