Stevie made her way up the bumpy path, smiling at the horses in the field. She was tired, her body ached and her heart was broken but this brought her the slightest amount of joy. She had been crying to the radio.
Right from the start
You were a thief, you stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me, that weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them
Now you've been talking in your sleep
Things you never say to me
Tell me that you've had enough
Of our love, our loveJust give me a reason, just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent, and we can learn to love again
It's in the stars, it's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent, and we can learn to love againDid she really tell Lindsey it was over again? The baby within her stirred and her hand went right to her belly. It was the first time she had felt the flutters; maybe it was a sign. She pressed the button for the garage door to open and slammed on her brakes, throwing the car into park. She jumps out, noticing Lindsey's car is gone. She shoves the key into the lock and pushes her way inside the house.
"Callie? Dylan?" She calls but no one answers. The kids are gone too. "Fuck" she curses.
I'm sorry I don't understand
Where all of this is coming from
I thought that we were fine (Oh we had everything)
Your head is running wild again
My dear we still have everythin'
And it's all in your mind (Yeah but this is happenin')
You've been havin' real bad dreams oh oh
You used to lie so close to me oh oh
There's nothing more than empty sheets between our love, our love
Oh our love, our loveJust give me a reason, just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again
I never stop, you're still written in the scars on my heart
You're not broken just bent and we can learn to love againShe begins to panic, her breathing becoming erratic. "I need...air"
Outside isn't much better. She stands by the fence, watching the horses play. The flutters in her belly happen again. "Oh, little one, I need to find your daddy and your big brother and sister." Walking around the property was no relief for her racing mind. It had been a few of hours since she had come back from her parents' house and she thought the worst. "Maybe he really is done with me" Stevie says aloud.Oh tear ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust, but our love's enough
You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come cleanJust give me a reason just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again
It's in the stars, it's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love againStevie stood on the hill, the wind blowing her hair violently, her flowing dress pressed against the otherwise undetectable bump of her stomach. The clouds were rolling in and suddenly the heavens opened up. She stood unmoving, letting the rain drench her. Lindsey came home, ushering the kids inside the house. Spotting Stevie on the hill, he ran to her and tugged her by the shoulders into an embrace. He held her head to his chest and she began to cry.
Just give me a reason just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again
It's in the stars, it's been written in the scars on our hearts
That we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again
