Stevie had been working on a song with Lindsey's band for two weeks. The Desert Dogs never had such a pretty lead vocalist. They all knew her well as Lindsey's wife then ex wife, but had never really grasped just how talented she was despite Lindsey telling them repeatedly that she was special. She came to them in the evening and asked them to learn a song for her. She wanted it ultra stripped, a little lower; her dream was coming to a reality before her eyes. She would meet at the bassist's house with the others and go over it little by little. It was so beautiful and she knew it was near perfect. They had a gig coming up and Stevie was going to perform for the first time in over 13 years. To say she was nervous, would be an understatement. She felt nauseous as she got ready, not sure if it was the morning sickness or the impending show. She wore a beautiful black dress and straightened out her hair a little. She wore dark make up and a little lipstick, wanting to make her features really pop. Lindsey had no idea what was going to happen tonight. It had been planned out that Lindsey would do a couple songs then after a brief intermission, she would perform her song and he would follow everyone's lead and join in.
They arrived at the venue and Lindsey went off to tune his guitar up and talk to his band mates. When the guys took the stage, the Lock'd N Loaded crowd went wild. Lindsey was on fire tonight, playing like he never had before. This was going to be a beautiful night. The intermission came and Stevie told him how great he sounded and how proud of him she was. He thanked her, kissing her often and was extra flirty and lovey. The attention made her feel comforted, her nerves calming a little. The guys took the stage again and Lindsey checked his watch.
"They're too early" Lindsey said, a little irritated.
"We have a special guest tonight" The drummer announced and the crowd was already so hyped. "A little lady by the name of Stevie Nicks is performing for the first time in over 13 years!"
"Stevie?" Lindsey seemed shocked but he smiled. "Go up there, baby. You're going to be great"
"Thank you. Come with me" She took his hand and practically dragged him on stage. "Follow" she says and he nods.
The other guitarist begins to strum softly, the drums gentle and like a lullaby. It was overall very ethereal and the audience seemed to enjoy it. Lindsey came in, picking at his strings and Stevie smiled. It was really happening.
Your baby blues
So full of wonder
Your curly cues
Your contagious smile
And as I watch
You start to grow up
All I can do is hold you tightKnowing clouds will raise up
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my armsStory books full of fairy tales
Kings and queens and the bluest skies
My heart is torn just in knowing
You'll someday see the truth from liesKnowing clouds will raise up
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my armsCastles they might crumble
Dreams may not come true
But you are never all alone
Because I will always
Always love youClouds will raise up
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my armsThe cheering was loud and Stevie felt the tears coming. It felt good to perform. Lindsey gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek, whispering in her ear. "Gorgeous, Steph. Amazing job."
