Chapter 11: First Mission

There we were sitting near the bullhead pad waiting for the huntsman we're supposed to be shadowing.

"You know, if we're not supposed to be late to class then how come our 'pro huntsman' can be 20 minutes late for our mission?" Eagle said, clearly annoyed about the situation.

"Just be patient Eagle, I'm sure he'll arrive shortly." Eagle said, polishing his cannon, while Marissa is sleeping with her head on Eagle's lap.

As for me, I was sitting down on the ground texting Neo trying to not look suspicious.

'So, what are you going to do today LeLe?'

'LeLe? That's a new one Neo.'

'Yeah I think it's cute little nickname for you. ;)'

I started to blushes a little reading what's she's sending me not really paying attention to what's going on until I started hearing footstep that sounded like something straight out those old cowboy movies which got my attention along with my teammates.

When we look up from what we doing we saw someone in a cowboy styled like outfit, wearing black and dark brown with a cowboy hat that has grim teeth going around it along with a belt buckle.

"So, your the team that's supposed to be shadowing me on my mission?" He asked us with strong western accent.

"Yeah, that's us but my question is how were you so late getting here excatly?" Eagle asked him narrowing his ears while poking Marissa trying to wake her up.

"That's not important to you all right. What is important is that you'll be with me and killing some grimm." He said as I got up putting my scroll back into my pocket.

"Um...right. so we should get on the bullhead and head to that village before they get overrun." Roland said walking towards the open doors of bullhead followed by the rest of us.

With all of us now on inside of the bullhead Rave sat down on a crate. "Alright kiddos, listen up.  This village as you know, is going to be overrun but multiple grimm. So our job today is take them down with little to no casualties." He stated while taking out his revolver checking his bullets before putting it back in his holster.

We all do an understanding nod before we feel the bullhead land just outside the village. "It would seem we have arrived." Roland said as he starts moving towards the doors as they start to open.

When we all got out, I started looking around the village. It looked pretty run down to say the least.

The building looked like they were wore out and some of wood needed to be replaced or repaired. They had a blacksmith area, a library, and small mess hall which Marissa immediately ran off to after she heard from Rave that they had food here.

We decided to just let her go and just go get her when the grimm gets closer to arriving plus, it keeps her and Eagle from arguing.

"Also I forgot to mention that some of the villagers had some reports on a guy that's been seen with the grimm giving them a sort of upgrade making them harder to deal with." He said quietly, looking around the area.

"Wait, a guy who can give grimm a power boost? Does he liked drug them with something?" I asked turning my head to look at him.

He shrugs frowning a bit, putting his hands on his belt.

"No idea."

"Well did they give a description of the guy?"

"That they did"

"Okay? What would that be?"

"Really creepy."

"Is...that it?"

He simply just nods tilting his hat only earning a facepalm from Eagle and I while Roland just sighs.

"Also, there have been villagers constantly disappearing when ever the grimm attack here." He said as he looked up at the sky to see that it's getting close to the afternoon.

"Stay alert. The grimm should be invading soon according to these reports the village elder turned into us." He told us as he gripped the handle of his revolver.

We all readied our weapons. I started looking around frantically. That's when we all heard a loud scream come from the west.

"Looks like the party just started boys. Come on let's hurry before someone gets hurt." Rave said, running towards the scream except for Eagle who left to go get Marissa from the mess hall.

When we got to where the screaming was at, we saw a pack of beowulfs outside of a house trying to break in. I immediately dash toward them cutting two of them in half then two more jump at me just to get shot down by one of Rave's revolvers.

The last one was then shot down by Roland's cannon. "The area is clear come on let's keep going to find more." I said before running off toward the next few houses in the village.

After a few minutes of fighting the grimm I noticed they start backing off. "Hey i think their retreating back into the forest!" As soon as finished my sentence I start feeling the ground shake a bit. Not enough to make me feel as if I'll lose my balance but definitely making have a feeling of something big is coming this way.

I look to my left to see a large alpha beowulf with spike like armor all over its body with larger and sharper claws then others had.

"This alpha looks different from the others."

"You think it was that guy we were talking about? The one that can upgrade grimm."

"Might be keep your eyes out for anything out of the ordinary."

That's when the alpha grimm charged at us with unnatural speed barely giving me enough time to react.

It barely missed me with those sharp claws it had. As I jumped back I launched my spearhead from my gauntlet only to have it bounce off its body thanks to that thick armor it had.

While it was distracted Roland got behind it and started shooting his cannon at it from behind only to make it lose it balance.

"Hmm...Roland go for behind his legs and Leonidas keep it pinned to the ground!" He ordered earning a nod from the both of us.

Roland then runs back behind him shooting his cannon at his legs making it trip falling backwards. I than jump up into the air and launch my spearheads into both of its hands keeping it pinned to the ground.

As I keep it pinned down I noticed Rave walk over and shoot it three times in the head killing it, causing the body to disintegrate. My spearheads return to my gauntlets and I look over at Rave as he blows the smoke from his revolver before spinning it and putting it back into its holster.

"Good work you two. Now let's go see if-"

Before he could finish we heard the sound of gun fire from nearby village. We all immediately run to where sound is coming from only to see Eagle and Marissa fight a guy in some kind of mask.

Is that guy the one responsible for how grimm were able to a power boost? Just who is this guy?
