Chapter Thirty One

What? Jai? Jai did this, for me?

I look at Beau and April, they both look nearly as shell shocked as I do.

"I'm sorry." Jai says and we all gasp. I only did so due to the huge group purple rings gathered around his eye.

"What I did was wrong and I know I don't deserve it one bit but will you forgive me? Will you forgive all of us?" He pleads and the growing crowd behind him chime in.

"We're sorry!" They say and I nod.

"I forgive you Jai, I forgive you all." The crowd jeers and begins to fade out, slowly, but Jai remains where he is stood.

He opens his arms with a grin and I run into them. Despite what he did to me, this is nearly one of the nicest things that anyone has done for me and I'm pretty sure, by the looks one their faces, that this is probably the only nice thing that Jai has ever done for anyone.

A loud shriek comes for down the hall as Yolanda and her nits come crawling down the corridor.

"What the fuck do you think you're playing at?" She screams.

"Which one of you losers did this?" She shouts again and Jai laughs in her face.

"That would be me." He steps closer to Yolanda and she shuffles back a little.

"Why? What did I do to you?" Yolanda asks. She can't be serious.

"Bitch please. What didn't you do?" April asks.

"Shut up you little shit, no one was talking to you." Yolanda bites back. Jai lunges for her, making her flinch and tumble onto the lockers behind her. Here little posy run to her aid and cradle her as though she had just been struck down by lightning. We all laugh, knowing that Jai would never actually hit her.

"You messed with my brother, Esme and Eleanor and that's not okay with me anymore! I know I messed up too, but at least I have the decency to apologise!" Jai says to her and she rolls her eyes, dramatically.

"Who are you Jai?" Yolanda pouts.

"I'm Eleanor's friend and Luke's brother and I will defend them, I will stick up for them! You're only upset because it's something that you could never do." Jai spits and Yolanda looks like she may cry.

"She won't be any different." She trembles, squinting her eyes to stop the tears. Is she speaking about me?

"Yes she will, you know fuck all about it!" Beau defends me.

"Nether does she." Yolanda scowls. Beau walks closer to her with fury in his eyes and whispers something into her ear.

"Deal." She says and walks away. What was that all about?

"Thank you for sticking up for me." I say to Jai and he shakes his head.

"No, I should be thanking you Eleanor. You've been nothing but kind to all of us and I threw it in your face. I hope you know that I am truly sorry for everything that I have done."

"I know you are."

I pull him in for one more hug before the second bell goes. We have missed registration but I couldn't care less. Before I can say anything to him, Beau turns away from me and strides down the corridor. April links my arm around hers and shakes her head, dragging me in the opposite direction. I wave goodbye to Jai and he follows his brother down the hallway.
