Avicii - Hey Brother. ;)
The 1975 - 12.
I would drop a pin if I had the strength to move but I'm paralyzed under his harsh gaze. His lips had twitched, fighting a smile until the realization of the truth had hit him. This wasn't a joke, nor was it a highly serious matter, but Jai's eyes are now screaming day light robbery; making me feel like a criminal. When in reality, I'm the victim.
"What?" he shuffles away from me a little.
"Don't be mad, I- I didn't know who else to tell. I know I lied but I couldn't tell him now. I can't tell him now. Promise you won't say anything?" I plead but his head shakes, denying my request.
"I... I don't know, Eleanor. I just don't know." I try to corner him but his hand shoots out, creating a barrier between us.
"What do mean you don't know?" I squeak.
"He's my brother Eleanor. I can't lie to him like that! At least I thought that you couldn't lie to him like that." His eybrows dip, mimicking his deep frown.
"I didn't lie! I never actually told him that I was a virgin!" I try to convince myself.
"Yet you knew that he had thought you were, but you didn't think to correct him? I can't believe you right now Eleanor." He shakes his head in sheer disapointment and my heart sighs a little. I was just begining to stitch up the patch made from Jai's previous mistakes and now this. Why now, on this day? Looks like I've lost three friends, in total.
"I couldn't tell him , he started going on about how much he wanted to start fresh with me, just like he told you! I didn't want to hurt him." I continue to defend myself.
"Hurt him? And what happens when he finds out? Do you think that won't hurt him?" his tone is getting sharper with every excuse I throw.
"He can't find out. Not yet anyway. You've got to promise me that you won't tell him!" I choke as a brittle lump forms in my throat at the thought of having to explain the reason as to why I couldn't tell Beau.
"I don't know if I can do that. He's my brother Eleanor. This is serious. If this was me, I'd want him to tell me." His eyes lock to mine for a matter of seconds before dropping to the ground again.
"You don't understand Jai. There's a reason behind my secret: A big one. It may just break us Jai. Please don't do this." A single, brave tear crawls up and dances across my water line.
"Tell me. Tell me not of who it was with, but of this big reason as to why you lied to my brother." He commands.
"I can't. It's just- It's way too much." I push out, failing to compress my sobs.
"Don't cry Eleanor, please. I just need you to be open with me." He coos.
"Wait. Don't tell me that you were r-" his shuffles forwards grabbing my shoulders as his fearful eyes search my face.
"No. No. Not that. I just can't tell you okay?" I lie.
"Is it really that bad Eleanor?" His head tilts down at me.
"Yes. Yes it is. I will tell you when the time's right Jai, I promise. But for now, please just believe me." I sigh. My body's tired of fighting. I'm starting to wish that we never made this secret deal after all.
"I do Eleanor. I believe you. I just don't know whether this is a good idea. You know, us; keeping secrets like this."
"So you mean that you're going to tell Beau?" I sulk.
"I don't know!" He growls again, but this time he points his frustration himself, rather than at me.
"Well I'm sorry Jai but if you can't keep my secret then, I can't promise that I'll keep yours." The sour sentence leaves my lips. I know I should've said it but this is my last resort.
"What are you saying? Are you blackmailing me?" Jai frowns, deeply, sucking a sharp, worried breath as he pushes his hand to his chest.
"No, I'm just saying that I think it's highly unfair that you refuse to keep my secrets, when I willingly keep yours! What you've done is just as serious as mine so in all fairness we should both tell Beau!" I say truthfully.
The room falls silent again as I watch him pace up and down. I can't believe what I've done. I can't put him through this. Jai's already cutting, what will he do after this? Knowing that he has to keep such a huge secret from his brother. I shouldn't expect him to do this for me and I couldn't be surprised if he left now and told Beau, because I can't say that I'd do different.
"Okay." He says bluntly.
"What?" I breathe.
"I'll do it. Ill keep your secret." He smiles.
"Really?" I mouth joins his and spreads from ear to ear.
"Yes but there'll be a price. Dear." He slurs.
Immediately, his once sullen features spread into a sinister grin as he joins his hands with mine.
"W-what?" I shutter in disbelief.
"Show me." He slowly takes his lip between his teeth and drags me closer by the lining of my leggings.
"What? No!" I yelp, slapping his hands away from me as I try to make my way for the door. But his strong arms restrict me.
"Prove to me that you're not really a Virgin Eleanor. Show me that you're experienced." He whispers tightening his grip on my waist.
I have no where to run.
