Flawless.

We are both far from it, as is our relationship.

I know that and of course she knows that. And I wouldn't even try to convince her otherwise.

For if it wasn't for these perfect impurities, we'd never see the reality of love.

The only flowers that display pure beauty are the ones that own a wounded leaf.

Pardon the word wounded, I meant blessed or unique.

As is my angel. My guardian at hand. Flawless? No, far from it. But I couldn't ask for more.

If only I knew, of all the cerebral thunder love could cause. But if I did, would I have run for the hills or hit the ground running? The second one of course, if I knew that Ellie would be my prize.

She looks like her you know? I see the pain - correction - her pain, in Ellie's eyes. Condensed and carved into small letters, spelling out the name that haunts my dreams:

Aislinn.

She was the first.

My first love.

My first hate.

The first time I heard my heart break.

My first sin. Aislinn.

"Looks like the book shelf's back up." Ellie says as we enter my room hand in hand. I've already checked for family members, so I know we'll have no interruptions tonight for sure. This coming hour seems like the perfect time for confessions and secret sharing fun but I can't fry the bacon without buttering up the pan before hand. If you know what I mean.

"Yeah my mom put it back up. Along with every book that I promise I haven't read..." I lie, turning my head away from her in order to conceal my darkened cheeks.

"Well you should! Mr.Jekyll and Dr. Hyde is one of my favourite Shakespeare books."

"First of all, Shakespeare wrote plays, not books and even if he did write books, this would not be a part of his collection, dear. Secondly, it's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. And number three, don't touch that, it's my favourite copy!" I educate her.

"So much for not reading these." she grins, folding her arms across her chest smugly.

"Fucks sake." I curse under my breath. "You know babe, you're lucky. I haven't always been this open. Nor stupid, for that matter."

"What happened then?"She pokes at me. I do feel the urge to call her out for sassing me but she'll pay for it later, either way.

"You happened." I laugh returning the gentle ausult.

"Why would you lie about that anyway?" she frowns as her eyes rise in order to find mine but I won't let her. I don't want her to know the truth.

"Because." I say brushing her question off.

She beams at me, holding an almost mother like glow. Reminding me that I can tell her anything. "Because what Beau?"

"Because it's not normal." Her head shoots up wearing a confused expression. "I mean expected, it's not expected." I correct myself.

"It's not expected for a guy like me to take pride in reading at all, let alone reading books like that. Some people don't take kindly to others that don't match their appearance. It's just not normal, okay?" I look down for a signal of her understanding but it doesn't come. "Just as it isn't normal for a guy like me to be with a girl like you." I add.
