I almost felt bad for Adam as he slipped the watch that could strangle a hippopotamus onto his wrist.

I could tell he was pretending to be super excited, but really he was in extreme pain.

Mental pain, that is.

"So anyway," Jess said, still talking about her 8 month long vacation. "Everybody in Bermuda was talking about this lady who lives there, Annie Lee, Annemarie or...I don't know. Oh yeah, it was Annemarie. Anyway, everyone was talking about her because when she broke up with her boyfriend, he actually lived here in Owatonna," Adams face paled. "she went to college and then moved to Bermuda! She just got married to some Über rich surfer dude. He's like a mixture of...I don't know, Harry from One Direction and..."

She stopped talking and looked up at Adam, who had stood up suddenly, his face a pale shade of grey.

"Uh...Adam," Jess said, her face confused. "are you okay? You look..."

"I..I'm just-I have to-I'm just going to..." Adam squeaked, sounding like he was about to cry.

He then walked out of the living room, and I thought I heard a sob before the slam of a door.

"That was weird," Jessica said. "I'm just gonna...go," she gestured to the door,"

I was more than happy to see her leave and I leapt to my feet and followed Adam out of the room.
