It was at least 1:00 AM when I pulled into my apartment structure.
I didn't have the energy to look at the clock.
I dragged my luggage up 2 flights of stairs and as soon as I unlocked my door I shut it, locked it and collapsed on the ground.
I started to cry again, pulling my knees up to my chin and wrapping my arms around them.
I sobbed and sobbed until my throat was raw, my eyes were red a sore and there was no more tears for me to cry out.
Only then did my exhaustion overcome me and send me into a deep sleep.

I awoke to a hard pounding on the door.
I groaned, stretching my aching legs and rubbing my itchy eyes.
I had a terrible headache.
I stood up, glancing at a mirror on the wall.
I looked a mess! I ran a hand through my hair until it looked almost presentable.
The knocking persisted and I wondered who could want to see me so badly at 7:00 in the morning?
I had a small, small suspicion, but I pushed it away.
I walked over to the door, unlocked it and opened it, if only to stop the knocking that was making my headache worse.
"Cloe,"
It was Adam.
I scowled.
"Cloe," he repeated, out of breath. "Cloe, I love you. I love you so much, so much, more than all the stars in the sky, more than all the grains of sand on a beach. I don't think I could bear to lose you, and I want you to know that nothing can change that.
I have an important question to ask you, and I just want you to know that if you say no, I'll understand. I myself don't know if I'm ready, and I don't even expect you to forgive me after what I did yesterday.
But-"
He was talking so fast I could barely understand him, but I squeaked as he got down on one knee and took my hand in his.
"Cloe Kinsetti, the love of my life, my days and my dreams, my fairytale princess, my knight in shining armour, my brave hero, the capturer of my heart, all things bright a beautiful, my soul and my life, the woman I was meant to be with all along.
Will you marry me?"
A tear traced it's way down my cheek and dripped off my jaw into my shirt.
"Yes," I whispered. "yes YES YES!"
He stood, smiling and I jumped into his arms, pressing my mouth to his.
"I love you Adam," I whispered onto his cheek.
"I love you too, princess knight,"
