That morning I woke up early.
Not that that wasn't strange, I was usually up before 5:00 AM, but this time I was almost glad to be awake.
I kept running that kiss through mind, and wondering how I had done it. I had had no idea where that sudden burst of courage had come from, but I was glad it had come.

I was making eggs, since that was pretty much the only thing I had in the house.
I made scrambled, and then I made some toast since that didn't seem like sufficient food.

When Cloe came downstairs I was hurriedly buttering the toast.
"Hey," she said. She looked great, even though she had just woken up.
She was wearing jeans and a T-shirt and her hair was braided neatly into a glossy plait down her back.
"Hi," i said. "I made eggs," after a brief pause I added: "for you,"
"Thanks," she smiled and sat down.
I thought it would be kind of hard for her to eat with me just staring at her, since I wasn't hungry, so I said: "I'll just be in my studio,"
"You know," she said quietly. "men who don't eat breakfast have a higher rate for heart disease,"
I frowned.
"I already ate," I felt bad for lying to her but I didn't want her to worry about me.
"Oh," I could tell she didn't believe me.

In the studio I sat down in my chair and stared at the many instrument around me, and sighed.
When I was in my studio I just felt so good, so right.
I picked up a guitar that was on a stand nearby and strummed almost unwittingly on it, humming under my breath.

Brighter than a shooting star
So shine no matter where you are
Tonight

After a moment I put the guitar back on its stand and ran a hand through my dark brown hair.
I picked up the guitar again, and just held it in my hands, staring at the smooth finish.
"Hi" I almost dropped my guitar in surprise.
"Why do I always startle you when I come into a room?" Cloe said laughing.
"Because you're so beautiful," I slapped a hand over my mouth and felt my cheeks burning.
I hadn't meant to say that!
Cloe smiled, almost mischievously.
After an awkward silence of me feeling like my face might burn off, Cloe came over and sat on a chair next to me.
"You think I'm beautiful?" she whispered, breaking the silence.
I suddenly found my cuticles extremely interesting.
"Yeah..." I blushed again when she smiled. "You also have a great voice,"
"I don't think-,"
"No, really," I sat up straighter, facing her. "I'm not even just saying that! You should join a band!" suddenly I was struck with an idea, but she must have been able to tell what I was thinking, because she said: "oh no way, Adam! I can't join your band!"
"Of course you can, you could sing with me!"
"Can you even do that?" she asked.
"Yeah I can. I can do anything I want," okay that had sounded way better inside my head.
"Here, let's sing," i started strumming Good Time on my guitar. "You sing Carly's part,"
I could tell she wasn't sure, but I started singing anyway.

Woke up on the right side of the bed
What's up with this Prince song inside my head
Hands up if you're down to get down tonight
'Cause it's always a good time

Slept in all my clothes like I didn't care
Hopped in to a cab, take me anywhere
I'm in if you're down to get down tonight
'Cause it's always a good time

Then it was Cloes turn

Good morning and good night she began
I wake up at twilight
It's gonna be alright
We don't even have to try
Its always a good time
Whoooaaaaa
Whoa oh oh

Whooooaaaa
It's always a good time

Whooooaaaa
Whooa oh oh
We don't even have to try
It's always a good time

Freaked out
Dropped my phone in the pool again
Checked out of my room
Hit the ATM
Lets hang out if you're down to get down tonight
Cause it's always a good time

Suddenly I stopped playing the guitar and threw caution to the winds.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked, hoping I'd made the right decision.
"Of course i will," she replied, almost as if it was a silly question.
I smiled shyly.
"So...do you think you'd like to join the band?"
"Um..." she put her finger to her lips in thought. "do you really think I'd be good enough?"
"Of course I do!" I smiled. "of course we'd have to ask the rest of the band first, but we've been needing some more vocals for a long time now. I'm sure they'd be okay with it,"
"Well then I guess I'll join, but don't blame me if ticket sales go way down after our first concert!" She said, pinching my leg playfully.
