Jess' POV
Will started to crawl over to me first, and pulled me back up. All of them were mad at me, but I did not care because I was mad at them for just leaving that girl down there without even checking if she is alive.
"Never do that again." Dean whispers to me as he grabs my arm and pulls me back beside him. Then he went over to the ladder, looked around at the people sleeping, then he started to go down the ladder. He put up his hand, telling us to wait, then he cautiously made his way over to the girl. He put his hand on her neck, and then her head moved. She looked up at him. His lips were moving, probably telling her that she would be okay. Then all of a sudden she started screaming and jumped at Dean. The chains kept her from actually reaching him but he fell when backing away from her. All of the people sleeping were now awake and frantically getting out of their hammocks. Sam pushed past us and rushed down the ladder.
Dean's POV
The vampires had turned the girl, but they left her chained to the post until she had more control over the urge to kill I guess. Now all of the vampires were surrounding me. I saw Sam come running over, out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see Jess, Will, and Ed still on the platform. Some of the vampires had noticed them and were starting to climb up the ladder. "Don't let them get up! Aim for their necks!" I yelled up the them. Will and Ed immediately placed themselves between Jess and the ladder. I put my focus back on the vampires circling Sam and I, and one of them was releasing the girl attached to the pole. When she was free she came running at me, and I swung the machete. Her head fell to the ground as another vampire rushed at me. This one ducked on my first swing, so I kicked him and he fell to the ground. I griped the handle of my machete with both hands and swung down, making the blade slice through his throat and his the floor boards underneath his neck. Two came at Sam and he got them both in one swing. I looked over to see how the others were doing and there were two decapitated bodies on the ground below the ladder. There was only five left and they were circling Sam and I. I could hear Jess arguing with her brothers.
"Let me go!" Jess wanted to come down and help.
"No! We'll go." Ed said, blocking the ladder. One came running at me while I was checking on Jess, and he knocked me to the ground. I held both ends of my machete, pushing it into his neck. My left hand was being cut into by the blade as I held the blade of my machete for leverage. The machete was about halfway through his neck, then I flipped him on to his back. I sat on top of him and pushed the blade the rest of the way through his neck. One came at my side, but a blade caught it's neck before it reached me. I looked to see that it was Ed who had killed it. Will and Sam had each killed one, as I looked over. Sam faced me as I saw one running at his back.
"Sam!" I shouted as I pointed at the vampire behind him. All of a sudden it's head fell to the left and it's body collapsed. Jess came out from behind Sam. She looked mad.
"I told you to let me help." Then she handed Sam the machete, and we all watched as she walked over to the ladder. We all looked at each other thinking the same thing, that we knew she was capable to fight be we cared more about keeping her safe rather than letting her help. Jess had already climbed out the window by now, so I rushed over to the ladder in an attempt to catch up to her. I did not see Jess when I looked out of the window, before climbing down. I ran to the other side of the barn, and saw he just starting to make her way into the forest. I ran to catch up with her. When I caught up to her, she ignored me.
"Jess." I said, as I walked next to her. She just kept looking forward. "I get it, okay? You're made that none of us would let you fight." Still no reply. "Jess, we all know that you're perfectly capable of fighting-"
"Then why didn't you let me fight?" She stopped and faced me.
"I didn't want you to get hurt." I could tell she did not like that answer.
"I wouldn't have gotten hurt." She snapped back.
"Anything can happen. I mean, I've been hunting all my life and I still got brought down today. You saw that. So it would have been just as easy for one of them to get you." She turned and went to keep waking but I grabbed her arm. "You have to understand that I did it because I care. I don't doubt you, okay? I know, you can fight, that you're smart, strong, and can handle yourself. It's myself that I doubt. I know that if I let you go into a hunt and you don't come back alive, that it will haunt me for the rest of my life, knowing that your death was my fault. So that's why I wouldn't let you fight. And even if it does make you this mad, I would keep doing it over and over again, because I'd like be able to see your face everyday, rather than have your blood on my hands. Even if you did hate me because of it." She was looking at the ground when I finished. She looked up into my eyes, and I could tell that even after all I just said, she was still mad, but that she also finally understood why I did it.
"Just, bring me back to the car." She quickly broke eye contact with me after that. Sam, Will, and Ed could be heard as they broke twigs under their feet with every step they took. I turned and kept walking in the direction of the car, and she followed behind me.
Jess' POV
I followed Dean all the way to the car, and when I got in I slammed the door. I knew he wouldn't like that at all, but I was mad and I needed to do something. Dean sat in the driver's seat and I sat in the middle at the back. We were in the car by ourselves for a short amount of time before the others showed up, but we didn't say a word to each other, even after the others got in. From the time that we all got in the car, to when we got back to Sam's house, the car was silent.
After Dean pulled in the driveway, I started opening the door before he had even turned the car off. I didn't wait for any of them, I just kept walking to the door, but I was stopped. The front door was locked, so I had to awkwardly wait for Sam to come and unlock it. I kept staring at the door handle, and didn't speak to any of them. Once it was unlocked, I opened the door and went straight to the kitchen sink. The blood from the vampire that I killed, had dried on my hands, making it harder to get off. Once I finally got all of the blood off, Ed came up from behind me.
"Are you okay?" He asked me. I didn't say anything back. They needed to know that I was mad at all of them. I went to the couch and turned on the TV. I sat in the corner, then Sam sat next to me.
"So. How long is this silent treatment gonna last?" He asked, as he watched the TV. Once again I did not reply. I turned the TV off and went to the fridge. There was basically nothing in there except for beer. I got a glass from the cupboard and got some water from the sink. I sat at the table next to Will, and started drinking it.
"You can't stay mad at us forever Jess." He said to me, knowing that I would not reply. "We did it becau-" I slammed the glass on the counter so hard I thought it was going to smash.
"Oh my god! I get it okay! I know that you all care about me, but I don't want to keep hearing it over, and over again. What I want to hear is that you guys will let me fight next time." At first they were all shocked by what I said, then one of them finally spoke up.
"Fine. Next hunt, you can fight." Dean stated, and nobody argued with his decision.
"Thank you." Now I was happy. I took the last sip of my drink, and put the glass in the dishwasher. I walked back to the couch, turned on the TV, and sat in the same corner next to Sam. "So what do you guys wanna watch?" I asked as I went to Netflix, and the rest of them came and joined us. We scrolled through the movies for a bit and then we picked some movie based on a true story.
Sam's POV
Half way through the movie, I noticed that Jess had fallen asleep. Her head was leaning on my shoulder, and she looked comfortable so I didn't move her. Ed had fallen asleep in the chair across from us, and Will fell asleep in a chair he pulled up from the kitchen table, behind us. Dean and I were the only ones still awake. I told him to go sleep in my bed, and he did. Since Jess was using the remote earlier, I just had to slip it out of her hand to turn off the TV. Then I just stayed where I was and slept there, allowing Jess to keep her head on my shoulder and continue sleeping.
