Karly POV

The rest of summer was not very fun for me.
No one understood for a long time what I meant when I said Zelena cursed me. I eventually got my mom on the phone and she explained. George stayed with me every night. And day. Really he just wouldn't let me out of his sight. Dad didn't mind, after all he knew it wouldn't be fun trying to argue with him and he'd probably lose.
The day to go back to Hogwarts was crazy. Fred and George used magic on theirs and my trunks (which I was grateful for) and hit Ginny on accident. Mrs. Weasley yelled at them, ignoring the part where one of the trunks was mine, and in the process woke up my grandmother. I kept quiet durning all the chaos. I was pretty sure we were going to be late if we kept this up.
I was zoning out, which was expected since I barely slept anymore, when a big black dog nudged my leg. I smiled and petted my dad's head.
"Harry, Karly, you're coming with me and Tonks. Leave your trunks and owl, Alastor's going to deal with the luggage... Oh for heavens sake, Sirius, Dumbledore said no!"
Dad stayed by mine and Harry, who had appeared there a minute before, side. Mrs Weasley was exasperated but let the matter drop.
I don't know how we made it on time to the platform, no seriously I can't remember. Dang lack of sleep. One thing I did remember was George putting his arm around me and after saying goodbye to everyone, dad not acting much like a dog when he said goodbye, leading me onto the train and into a compartment.
"You need to sleep," he tells me as we sit with Fred and Lee Jorden in an empty compartment.
"I'm alright," I tell him, "hey Lee, how are you doing?"
"Brilliant! How about you? I didn't think we'd see you this year."
"I didn't know I'd be back either. And besides being sleep deprived I'm great," I tell him with a small smile.
Lee and I have been friends since my first year. He was the first person Fred and George introduced to me. He loved me like a sister, and was always convincing Fred and George to let me in on pranks.
Lee and Fred started talking joke stuff and I laid my head on George's chest.
Before long a familiar face I did not miss at all, appeared in the compartment doorway.
"Well well who do we have here? Karly Black. Surprised your actually still alive. Thought that someone had done us a favor and gotten rid of you last year," the sneering voice of Draco Malfoy said.
I didn't hesitate for a second. I stood up and punched Draco in the jaw, hard. He staggered back out of the compartment.
"That's for the stupid engagement your parents came up with!" I yelled at him.
"How did you know about that?" He asked rubbing his jaw.
"Dumbledore. And I'll say this now, I'll marry you when Voldemort is good and I no longer have a heart."
I turned back into the compartment and slammed the door shut. The boys were starting at me.
"What?" I asked finally.
"That was bloody amazing Kay!" George said excitedly.
I smiled suddenly really awake.
"Did you guys tell Lee what happened?" I asked seeing Lee's equally amazed, confused, and scared face. Lee had never seen me hit anyone, so that's probably where the terror was coming from.
"Nope," the twins said in unison.
So we spent the rest of train ride explaining what happened since after the end of my third year, their fifth year.
We soon saw the castle. I groaned once I realized O.W.L.s were this year.
"I'm so going to fail this year."
"No your not, because I'm going to help you," George said.
"The world is over! George Weasley wants to help someone study!" Fred cried scandalized.
"We're all going to die!" Lee yelled.
"Shut it both of you!" George and I yelled at them.
We all started laughing and we laughed till we got to Hogsmead station. We all got off the train and got into one of the horseless carriages. When we got to the Great Hall we made our way to the Gryffindor table and sat down. I scanned the staff table, pausing a moment to glare at Snape, and saw two things that were different. Hagrid wasn't here, and he wasn't at the train station either, and there was a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.
I was honestly appalled when I saw her. I didn't think a human being could look so toad like.
Fred and George let out identical low whistles.
"It's going to be fun driving her insane," they whispered and I laughed.
The Sorting Hat sang its peculiar song that no one expect Hermione probably understood. And then the feast began.
Alright, don't get me wrong I love Mrs. Weasley's cooking and my mom's not a bad cook herself and Granny's is just a notch below Mrs. Weasley's, but man I forgot how good Hogwarts food is.
"Dang! This is the most I've seen you eat all summer!" George exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, when your cursed to see a dark version of yourself every time you sleep and this dark version of yourself can and does hurt you, you don't have much of an appetite."
He laughed and kissed my cheek, "I never said it was a bad thing. I'm actually glad your eating," he whispered into my ear.
"Don't get used to it," I tell him.
Dumbledore soon stood up to make his normal speech.
"Well, now that we are all digesting another magnificent feast, I beg a few moments of your attention for the usual start-of-term notices. First years ought to know that the forest in the grounds us out of bounds to students- and a few of our older students ought to know by now too." I gave a very pointed look to Fred, George, and Lee who tried (and failed... miserably) to look innocent.
"Mr. Flich, the caretaker, has asked me, for what he tells me is the 462 time, to remind you all that magic is not permitted in the corridors between classes, nor are a number of other things, all of which can be checked in the extensive list now fasted to Mr. Filch's office door.
"We have had two changes in staffing this year. We are very pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank, who will be taking Care of Magical Creatures lessons; we are also delighted to introduce Professor Umbridge, our new Defensive Against the Dark Arts teacher."
So the toad woman was going to be the new DADA teacher. I smiled a little to myself. The boys and I would be having a lot of fun with her.
"Tryouts for the House Quidditch teams will take place on the-"
Dumbledore broke off looking inquiringly at toad woman- I mean Umbridge. No one really understood why he stopped talking till Umbridge said "hem hem." I groaned. Toad woma- Umbridge was going to make a speech.
"Do you have dreamless sleeping drought on you because I'd really rather not listen to this?" I whispered to George.
He laughed a little and put his arm around me.
"I unfortunately do not, and if the rest of us have to listen, you do too," he whispered back and I groaned a "fine."
"Thank you, Headmaster" Professor Umbridge started, "for those kind words of welcome." I shivered at her voice, it reminded me slightly of Zelena somehow and that's never a good thing. "Well, it is lovely to be back at Hogwarts, I must say! And to see such happy little faces looking back at me!"
I gave her a look that said "who are you calling little and happy?"
"I am very much looking forward to getting to know you all, and I'm sure we'll be very good friends!"
I snorted and rolled my eyes. I heard Fred and George mutter a very sarcastic "that's likely."
"The Ministry of Magic had always considered the education..."
I completely zoned out after that. And I didn't zone back in till we were all standing up to go back to the dormitories.
"I'm going to enjoy driving her mental. Although it won't be that hard," Fred said and I laughed.
"Ms. Black, may I speak to you for a moment," Professor McGonagall's sharp voice said from behind us.
I quickly said goodbye to Fred, Lee and George, and turned to my head of house. She had me follow her to her office.
"Ms. Black, I must say you missed a lot last year," the professor said once she closed her office door.
"So I've heard."
She gave me a tight smile, "your father sent me a letter earlier. He told me about the nightmares."
I stiffened a little, "don't worry, he simply wanted me to know. I have made sure that there are some enchantments around your bed so that if you do wake up in a not so quite manner, it won't wake up your roommates."
I sighed a little in relief. I wouldn't cause a scene if I did need sleep.
"The next matter would be the fact that you've missed a year of school and it is your Ordinary Wizarding Level exams."
"Professor, I don't know how I can make that all up. It's too much curriculum."
"We have found a way Ms. Black. Dumbledore made a plan for this."
She gave me a small vile, "I do not know how it works, but Dumbledore hasn't steered us wrong yet."
I nodded and put the vile into my pocket.
"There is one other matter we need to discuss: a story for you to give it anyone asks about where you were. The Weasley's, Mr. Potter, and Ms. Granger thought it would be better if they avoid the topic of where you were all the time. If anyone asks they can go talk to Dumbledore. But now we cannot do that, so what would you wish your story to be?"
I thought about it for a minute.
"I got ill. Really ill, right after school ended. I decided to get away from London. I went to my mom's home in Main. I didn't get any better so I stayed with her till I recovered my health."
McGonagall nodded, approving the statement.
Before I left she stopped me, "Black, be careful around Umbridge. She will try and use you to find out where your father is. And she will find your absence for a year suspicious."
I nodded and started walking out the door.
"Black," I turned to look at her again, "welcome back."
I smiled and left the office walking to Gryffindor tower.
George was waiting for me outside the tower.
"You really waited for me?" I ask when I walk up to him.
"Of course! I'd wait a thousand years or more for you."
I smiled and kissed him softly. He kissed me back, slowly pulling me closer and closer to him.
"Oi! Are you going to tell me the password or just stand out here kissing each other all night?" The fat lady asked.
We broke apart blushing.
"Oh right the password is Mimbilus mimbletonia," George told her.
She gave us a small nod and swung open, letting us in.
"Welcome back Kay," George whispered into my ear.
Yeah. Welcome back. It's that endless summers end, and schools start.

Hey! It's Avery! Stole her phone again! Who else wants to punch Umbridge in her pretty little face!!!!!????? I DO!!!!!!
