Kat's POV

First day at a new school isn't always the easiest thing. I am in 11th grade. My family just moved from California to new Jersey. Well me and my mom. My dad died in a car crash in the town we are living in now,when he came to visit his family. And my brother lives in California still for collage. But when my dad died my mom wanted to move to his home town so I can graduate here. 

I got out of bed and went to my closet.  I searched for 5 minutes trying to find an outfit. I found a black shirt that crossed in the front and showed my stomach and black short shorts. I ran to the bathroom and did my hair and makeup. When I was done I grabbed my bag and grabbed a jacket so my mom doesn't scream at me. 

I ran out the door to my car and  drove to the school. Once I got there people looked at me immediately. I took my jacket off because I saw a girl with a similar outfit then got out of the car. Everyone started staring at me but I just ignore them. But when I got to the stairs of the school two boys caught my eye. I stopped in my tracks and looked at one of them. Twins? One of them turned away and talked to the girl next to him. I made eye contact with the one that had a freckle on his right cheek. He waved at me and I smiled at him. He is pretty hot. He smiled at me and I started to blush. I looked away and then looked back to see he was gone. I turn around and he was standing right in front of me. I jumped back and almost fell. He caught me before I fell down the stairs. 

"Thank you," I said shocked at how fast he caught me.

"No problem. My names Ethan by the way."

Hot name for a hot guy.

He laughed.

"What?"

"Nothing. Your just really beautiful." 

I started to blush again. I tried hiding my face.

"Hey why are you so shy."

"No one had ever called me beautiful before."

"You're joking right. You're so beautiful. Your name should just be beautiful. What is your name anyway beautiful?"

"Kathryn but call me Kat."

"I like beautiful better."

"Your pretty hot yourself."

"Oh really."

"Ya. Cuter then the guy over there you were with."

"Really. Most girls go for my brother more."

"Well I'm not like most girls."

"Ya I can tell."

"Can you show me where room 125 is."

"Ya that's where I'm going."

"Great."

He guided me to the class and talked about our other classes. It turns out I have every class with him!

"So Kat you just moved here."

"Ya my dad used to live here when he was a kid and so my mom wanted me to go here when he passed."

"Oh I'm sorry. What happened. If you don't want to talk about it you don't have too."

"No its fine Ethan. I can tell you. He came to visit his family one night. My mom, my brother and I were at my grandma's house and we were waiting for him because he had a later flight then us. He got a rental car and started driving there. On the way there he Um..." I felt a tear run down my face. Ethan whipped it away.

"Hey you don't need to go on. It's ok I understand no need. I'm so sorry that happened."

"It's not your fault. But thank you. I've heard people saying I'm sorry for 2 years and non of those people did it. I just want to know who that driver was." 

"Kat, I was wondering if you want to come over my-" He was cut off by the bell.

"Everyone sit down, I'm Mr. Baldwin and I will be you English teacher..."

He kept talking but I stared off thinking about Ethan. Did he just ask me out? I mean like I won't be mad if he did. I was close to leaning over and kissing him. But I feel like that would have been so weird.  We meet 20 minutes ago and I was about to kiss him.

"Ms. Layward you are paired with Mr. Dolan."

I leaned over to Ethan. "What are we doing?"

"I wasn't paying attention either. But I think we have a group project and we are writing an essay or something."

"Ok."

"So my house after school."

"Ya sure."

At lunch

I walked with Ethan to the lunch room. I have every class with him so he's been showing me around. We walked over to his twin brother and some other people. He pulled out a chair for me and him.

"Guy's this is Kat. Kat this is my brother Grayson, Will, Nate, Penelope, and Sophia."

"Hi nice to meet you," I said waving my hand.

"Hi I'm Penelope but call me Pen. Why haven't I seen you in any classes."

"Pen she's in math with you. I told her to sit next to me so you didn't see her," Ethan said.

Grayson nudged Ethans arm. They looked at each other like something was wrong. Grayson grabbed Ethans arm and pulled him out of the lunch room.

Ethans POV

"Gray I know this is bad. I think she's the one." I looked down at the ground.

"No E look at me she's human. You can hurt her if you lose control."

"Gray I know I won't hurt her. If I do... no I know there's no if's. I won't hurt her."

"E we are vampires. You can kill her in one swift move."

I heard a noise from behind us. I turned quickly and saw Kat standing there mouth gapped open.

"Etha..." her eyes closed and she was about to fall. I ran over and caught her before she fell.

"I've got you."
