Zane's POV

I woke up....somewhere I did not recognize. I looked around, searching for something, but around me golden trees and grass surrounded me.

I then looked down at myself, and saw my white patterned fur...I was in my spirit animal form!

" Hello?!" I called out. Hoping for someone to answer me back. " Anyone?!"

*Hoot, hoot!*

I whipped my head around, and turned to the branch on which the sound came from. There a small golden barn owl started at me with deep eyes. I walked closer to it, trying to figure all this out. " Are you a friend?" I asked it.

*Who do you think I am?* The owl talked. My fur raised in shock, and confusion.

" You can talk?" I gasped.

*Of course, I am a spirit just like you are!* the owl spook again.

" Oh, I see, but...but if I am not mistaken you sound like someone that I use to know..." I growled softly.

*You were alway one of my sharpest pupils..* The owl hooted jokily.

" Pupil?! Are you-"

* Yes, Zane...It is me, Sensei Wu.." the owl spoke calmly..I felt overjoyed to hear my Master's voice again.

" Sensei! It is so good to see you again!" I purred happily. " So your spirit animal is an owl?" I asked.

Wu nodded. *And I see you are a snow leopard...* There was a pause, and I could see the owl's eyes sadden. *You were too young, too young to die...You had a whole life ahead of you..*

I looked down. " I did what I had to do to protect my brothers..no matter the outcome." I stated.

The owl flew down, and perched himself on a stone. *And you did, but you never really had the chance to live a full life.*

I shook my head. " I have seen many lifetimes before the ninja were even born...I have seen, and learned many things...I even loved once, but the moment she was taken from me....there was no future for me to settle down in my life. Then the moment my father left, and then you left...I think someone thought I have seen enough death in my life..." I stated.

There was a pause, but then Wu asked me a question. " Did you ever think on what the others would feel, losing you again?" he asked.

I froze a bit, and turned to look at him with wide eyes. " I...I did not think they would mourn like this..." I whispered.

* The bond that you shared with your brothers was strong, and once they lost you...it was as if a part of this bond had been lost....family isn't something one can forget, or replace...instead the loss of one can hurt the heart more than any weapon.* Wu whispered.

I felt bad, and full of regret... " I never meant for any of this to happen.." I whispered.

Wu came closer to me, and rested his beak on my forehead. * I know you didn't, but now is the time to fix all of this, and help your brothers regain their strength to come back together, and truly accept what has happened..*

" I know, but I am afraid that I will fail.." I whispered.

*You will not fail, my son...You know your brothers best, you'll find a way to bring them together.*

" Thank you, Master.." I smiled. Suddenly a wind began to blow, and a light grew around us.

*I am sure we are to meet again soon...Your time left here on this place is growing short, and soon the final stages of your purgatory will end, and love with find you home..* he whispered to me. I looked at him with wide eyes, and soon a bright light soon began to take shape.

" Wait! Do not leave me, Master!" I roared.

The owl's feathers began to glow, and Wu smiled at me softly. " I will always be watching you, and like your love ones...We will be greeting you when you have come to join us!"

" Wu!"

I woke up, and the lights began to dim brighter. Looking around, I found myself back in the child's body I took on.

" Aquilo!" Cole's voice broke the silence. I turned to him, and saw his worried eyes. " Hey, buddy..you must of had a really bad dream.." he sighed.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead, and noticed how my body was still shaking. " I...it was not a bad dream...It was more of saddening." I whispered.

Cole's eyes soften, and placed my under his arm. " Did you want me to stay here, just to make sure you don't have any more bad dreams?" he asked.

I didn't say anything, but just nodded my head. " Thank you, Cole.."

" No problem, little buddy." he smiled. " I promise you that I will never abandon you...I won't make that same mistake twice.." he whispered, as if trying to hide that last part..

I laid down, turning so that Cole could not see my face. I felt my heart break, and though tears were not often shed, I could feel them forming. For I knew what Cole was referring to...

You did not abandon me, Cole.....I begin to feel as if I abandoned you...I thought, as the night began to take over me again..

( So just wondering what is your spirit animal? XD Mine is a wolf, owl, and snow leopard!)
