Chapter 19

  I felt like my eyes widened to the size of saucers. My breathing became unsteady and frequent as I absorbed this new information. "I was afraid this would happen." He mumbled under his breath looking down. He shook his head in anger with himself. I brought my breathing back under control and focused on Louis. "It's not like you could have stopped this from happening, Louis. If we were meant to be, nothing can change it." He shook his head and looked away. I looked down at my lap. 

  I am meant to be with a villain for the rest of eternity. A villain who was once a superhero. A villain that maybe I could get back to a superhero. 

 "I think he always knew." I snapped my head to Louis as the look of confusion took over. "What?" He lifted his head to meet my gaze. "He always asked why the upstairs was off limits and he joked about a person being up here a time or two. I don't know why I never caught on to it. That time that he ran into you." He took a breath deeply. "I could see it in his eyes and I knew you were gone." I furrowed my brow. "What do you mean? Gone?" "It always is one equal that will change for the other." "You honestly think I'll turn evil? Really, Louis? I'm not that low, nor will I ever be." He sighed and looked away mumbling under his breath again probably hoping that I wouldn't hear, but I did. "That's what you think now." I shook my head at him. 

  I will get Niall on our side once again. 

  A thought crossed my mind. "How come I never knew?" Sparkling blue eyes met mine as he looked deep within them. "You just haven't felt the pull yet. With equals, there isn't always a bell in your head that tells you who your other equal is. Sometimes it takes time and patience. Other times there is a bell that will go off. For Niall, a bell went off." I nodded in understanding before turning my head away and went into deep thought. 

  I am Niall's equal. Everyone knows who he is. He is a villain. No one knows who I am. I am a superhero. How on earth can we make this work? Why were we chosen to live our lives together for eternity when we are on complete opposite sides? 

  "Louis." I called his attention. "I need to speak with him." He mumbled incoherent words under his breath angrily. "I don't like him up here alone with you." I took a deep breath. I know one thing about him. "He won't hurt me, Louis." "He kidnapped you!" "He protected me from the others." I stated calmly as he tried to control his angry breaths. "Fine." I kissed his cheek and a small smile found its way onto his face. "Thank you." He nodded and left the room. 

  It wasn't but two seconds later that a small knock came from outside my door before it opened to reveal him. A smile was plastered across his face lighting up his eyes when he saw me sitting on the bed. He walked into the room and nonchalantly took a seat beside me. "Hi." I giggled lightly. "Hello." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly and that caused a smile to light up my face. I like him when he is this way and not letting the evil side of him take over. I shook the thought from my head. What am I thinking? 

  "You wanted to talk to me?" He questioned staring deeply into my eyes with piercing blue ones. My breath was taken away and it took a moment before it came back. "Yes." "We are equals." I nodded in understanding and he looked a little bit relieved. "I know." He closed his eyes over and took a deep breath. "I knew ever since the beginning." He paused a moment and I waited somewhat patiently for him to continue. "Ever since I saw you, I knew you were meant to be with me forever. I just wanted you all to myself and to keep you safe. It was selfish and stupid of me and for that I am sorry. I'm sorry I took you away from your brother. I'm sorry I caused you to get hurt. I'm sorry for everything." He looked down ashamed. My heart pulled at the sight and the words he spoke so meaningfully. I placed my hand under his chin and forced him to look at me. "I forgive you."
