Chapter 22

  I heard a knock on the door causing all of us to groan loudly before erupting into laughter. I stood up and walked towards the door taking deep breaths. "I'll get it." I called out over the others laughing. My hand on the knob turning it when the room went deadly silent and Louis shouted. "Leah, no!" It was too late as I had already opened the door. A tall man stood there smirking down at me when I gasped. He was dressed in a black elastic suit with a black cape behind him flowing in the breeze.

  I stood up tall and confident. "May I help you?" He raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his chest. "Who are you?" "I should be asking who you are considering you are the one that knocked on my door." I spoke bravely with sass. His smirk turned into a scowl and his eyes glazed over into a glare. "Don't speak with me like that." I heard a growl from behind me and realized Louis was standing directly behind me. "What do you want, Shadow?"

  I had heard if this villain before and remembering him shot chills down my spine as I backed away slowly. Shadow. He was known for being like a dark shadow, appearing out of nowhere and taking his victims deep into the dark and torturing them. He found pleasure in every second of it. I was unaware of any powers and I didn't intend to find out anytime soon.

  I turned around to find Niall walking towards me with a stern look on his face. He stood in front of me protectively and I peeked around his shoulder slightly. Louis and Shadow were having a hushed, heated argument. I took a moment to look behind me to see everyone else had disappeared.

  'Niall.' I whimpered his name in my head as I caught Shadow staring at me with a large smirk on his face. He turned his attention back to Louis who took no time in punching him directly in the jaw and shoving him out the door. He bolted the lock on the door and stood still breathing heavily. 

  Niall turned around with concern in his eyes. "You okay?" I nodded and kept my attention on my fuming brother. "They will all know now." Louis stated and turned around to face us. I stepped out from behind Niall. "They would have found out eventually. You couldn't have expected to keep me locked away for the rest of my life." I half smiled to try and lighten the mood in the air, but it didn't work. Louis glared at me and for the first time in my life I was very afraid of my older brother. My eyes widened and I took an unnoticeable step back. "I did intend on it. I couldn't risk loosing you, Leah. You're all I have left."

  I felt tears prick the corners of my eyes. "You had more chance of loosing me by keeping me locked away than the whole world knowing who I was." I felt a single tear roll down my face before turning around and running up to my room.

  It hurt that he meant to keep me here for eternity. He knew exactly what I meant by the comment, yet he looked so bewildered with it.

  I heard footsteps following behind me up the steps, but I shut the door before they could reach me. I locked it sliding down the back of it. Silent tears cascaded down my cheeks. I could hear Louis and Niall both trying to talk to me through my mind but I blocked them both out. Niall pounded on the door and repeatedly called my name. I need a moment to myself and I don't think it's too much to ask for. "Leah! Please, open the door!" I shook my head even though I knew he wouldn't be able to see it. A thought crossed my mind and I slowly stood up.

  I wiped away the tear stains vigorously and made my way to the bathroom. I flung open the shower curtain and guided my attention to the window above. I smirked slightly and took a deep breath. I gripped the bottom and hauled myself up with inhuman strength. I landed on the roof like I did before and turned to look back at the window.

  I'll be back, I promise. I silently told myself before running across the roof.
