We all crowd into the elevator, pointing our weapons towards the ground.

The elevator doors open, and upstairs is a mess of lights ripped out from the ceiling, tables knocked over, and doors bent in.

"Remember how I told you that one of their signature things was messing with doors? The other thing is messing with lights. No light means you can't see them," Nox says, pointing his gun into the darkness.

Ryith turns all the lights back on, and in the corner, I see one.

It's got grotesquely long arms and legs, ones that I notice, horrifyingly, have more than one joint in them. It has a round head, and a mouth that takes up almost all of its head.

An eerie clinking noise comes out of its mouth, and in an instant, the lights are off again.

Ryith doesn't turn them back on.

"Ryith?" Leila asks nervously, brightening her glow.

We all whirl around, looking for Ryith.

"He's gone," Gray says quietly.

All of a sudden, a scream is heard from down the hall.

We all run down the hall, following the screams and strange clinking noises.

"Ryith!" Nox cries, running over to a quivering bundle at the end of the hall. He scoops Ryith up, and we begin checking the rooms.

Even though Ryith is clearly hurt, he manages to get the lights working again, and Leila extinguishes her light.

After checking all the rooms and ensuring the creatures were gone, Leila quickly runs downstairs and gets the first-aid kit for Ryith.

"No, no, something's not right. They never come and go that quickly," Gray says.

"I think that means we haven't seen the last of them," Leila says, looking up from cleaning the cuts on Ryith.

I run to the window in the nearest room, looking out just in time to see about 6 or 7 night-shadows running into the forest.

"How many?" Gray asks, walking up beside me.

"7-ish."

"I wonder if they've got Juliette," Gray sighs, looking out the window.

"We should probably make sure everything's locked up for the night, right?" I ask, turning away from the window.

"Yeah," He says, walking back into the hall. I follow, and we all head back downstairs.

After everything is locked up, I scarf down a quick protein bar, and head back to my room. Luckily, mine wasn't one of the ones that were wrecked, so I'm sleeping alone, which I'm fine with. Gray and Nox, who's room's were ruined, are rooming with Leila next door. Across the hall, Oakley and Ryith are in the same room, but Mercedes, Nora, and me all got lucky, and our rooms were spared.

I lay in bed, wide awake. I sigh, and flip onto my back, closing my eyes.

I'm not the kind of person who acts completely normal regardless of whether they get 3 hours of sleep, or 11, so I try to clear my mind, and relax.

Then, I hear something that makes me sure I'll never relax again.

A clinking noise, about 2 metres away from me, which is much too close for comfort.

I let out a loud scream, not so much because I'm scared, more so to warn the others.

Luckily, I'm laying on top of the sheets, so I'm able to roll off the bed, landing on the carpeted floor with a thud.
