"Shouldn't we start thinking about informing my mom about this "camp" I'm at?" I say, sitting in the lobby with Juliette and Gray.
It's dark out, but my phone says it's only 6:30pm. My mom doesn't get home until at least 8:30pm.
"Call her." Gray says, motioning to my phone.
"What?" I ask.
"Call her. Tell her you're sorry for just leaving, but you decided to take initiative and drive to the camp to speak with the counsellors." He explains.
"Oh, good idea." I say, dialling my mom's number.
She picks up, and I tell her what Gray said.
"Well? What did the counsellors say?" She asks impatiently.
"They said it would be no problem to get me in. They also offer schooling, so it doubles as summer school." I tell her.
"Good, that's good. You could use some extra schooling." She says.
I roll my eyes. My grades aren't bad at all, they're just average.
"How much does it cost?" She demands.
I cover the phone with my hand.
"How much does it cost for me to be here?" I whisper to Gray.
He waves my question off. "It's free."
"I can't tell my mom that!" I whisper back.
"Okay, tell her it's $150 for the summer."
"Is that a lot for a boot camp?" I ask.
He shrugs.
Okay, very helpful.
"Uh, it's $150 for the summer," I say nervously. What if that's not a reasonable price? I don't know what boot camps cost!
"WHAT?! That's insane!" She screams, and I wince. Shoot, too expensive.
"That's an incredibly cheap price! For that much money, I'd send you there every summer!" She says happily. She is talking about basically giving me away to boot camp, but, on the positive side, she seems on board!
I smile, and give a thumbs up to Gray. He smiles back.
"Great, so do you want to see the place?" I ask.
"Okay, so today's the 22nd, we'll go on the weekend, the 24th." She says, and I hear a pen scratching something down.
"Actually, um, if it's okay, the counsellors invited me to stay tonight, so I could get a feel for what this place is all about. I already have a bag packed, and they fed me supper. Is that alright?" I ask, biting my nails. I can't go back home now, she better not say no.
"Well, I guess that is okay. It is important for you to adjust to this new place." She says slowly.
"Thanks mom, I'll see you this weekend!" I cry excitedly.
She hangs up on me, but I don't even care, I don't have to go home!
"Okay, we have one day to turn this place into a boot camp." I inform Gray.
"Don't worry, it'll be a piece of cake." He says. "Come on, it's getting late, we should head upstairs."
I look at my phone. 7:30 already? Oh well. I walk upstairs with Gray.
Leila got me a cute pair of fuzzy pajama bottoms, and a simple navy t-shirt for bed.
I take a hot shower, and hop into bed early.
