Everyone gathers their weapons, and we all rush downstairs with varying degrees of panic.

"The bags are still in the car, right?" KC shouts as we're sprinting through the lobby.

"Yep!" Gray calls back.

"The truck's totalled, do you guys have another car?" I ask once we stop.

"I'll get it," Nox offers, running into the back.

I get into the passenger seat of the black Mazda I fell in love with the first time I saw it, when it was parked sloppily in my backyard.

Same as in the truck, Gray gets in the front, with Mercedes and Oakley in the back.

As soon as Nox pulls around in the car, we set off. Gray rolls down the window, and I listen.

After a bit, I hear the clanks. I direct Gray where to go, and we follow the noises.

"Do you think we'll catch them before they get to the OHAR building?" Mercedes asks.

I open my mouth, but when Oakley answers, I realize she's not talking to me.

"I sure hope so. Now that we've got two people MIA, it'd be real nice to get some good news," Oakley replies.

We keep following the sounds, and eventually, I see them.

"We found them!" Oakley cheers from the back seat.

Gray parks the car, the engine squealing.

I run over to Nox's car, flinging the trunk open.

I snatch my crossbow, then quickly begin passing out weapons.

"We've got to catch them before they make it to OHAR!" Gray cries, running into the forest.

My legs ache as I run through the forest, following the creatures.

While still running, I fire a stream of arrows at the one carrying a still unconscious Leila. Every single night-shadow turns around.

For a moment, we stare in shock, at the scarily large group of them.

Then at once, everyone starts using their weapons in all ways possible.

I fire until I'm sure I have no arrows left, and Nox does the same with his gun. Oakley, Ryith, Nora, KC, Gray all throw their weapons at the largest one.

It howls, and drops Leila rather roughly.

Nox runs over to her, leaving the rest of us to deal with the night-shadows.

Mercedes sprints towards the smallest one, practically stabbing it with the taser.

I quickly reload the arrows into my crossbow, then I head towards the night-shadow that Oakley's trying to fight.

He swings his pipe at the creature, hitting it right in the tooth. I fire, aiming into their large mouth. The creature falls over, dead.

I high-five Oakley. One down, nine to go.

Looking around, I realize it's less. Including mine and Oakley's, four night-shadows have fallen.

I notice a smaller night-shadow sneaking up behind KC, who's fighting another one.

"Look out!" I cry to her, firing at the smaller night-shadow. My crossbow clicks, out of arrows. I don't have time to reload.

I close my eyes and think quickly.

When I open my eyes, one of my holograms stands back-to-back with KC.

The night-shadow seems confused, since the hologram appeared out of nowhere.
